Generic problem for all MP3 and Digital Media Players

My son dropped his Zen into Water - fished it out after abouut 30 secs. we left it to dry out . It will play when connected to charger or speakers. it will not play when disconnected , nor will it connect to the PC.
Can I do anything more?
