Click start then computer
your card should show up there as a removable disc
right click the card and click explore,, it should open up,,

If the card is infected with a virus, double clicking it will not open it instead it will execute the virus and you wont be able to access the card,,

If the card doesnt show up at all try it in another computer ,, if that fails as well then chances are its damaged..

If the card has a virus scanning it with an anti virus will help..

Cant download from camara to pc need to dpwnload program dont have disc

If your computer does not recognize the camera when you plug it in to the computer and you do not have access to the software needed, you will need to find another way to get the pictures onto the computer straight from the memory card. If your computer has a memory card reader, use that because that's the easiest way to access pictures on a memory card. If your computer does not have a memory card reader, you can buy a USB adapter that your memory card can fit into and your computer can read through USB. They are cheap and useful. Here's a good one for 12.99 from amazon.com that reads many types of memory cards including:
  • CompactFlash Type
  • CompactFlash Type II
  • Memory Stick
  • Memory Stick PRO
  • SmartMedia
  • xD Picture Card
  • SD
  • MultiMediaCard

I wish to use a Smart Media-xD adaptor into my Camedia D-450, and I want to know what xD cards are compatible with this approach. Thanks!

The adaptor is much thicker and longer than the Smartmedia card, so I don't beleive you can use it in the camera at all. I'd recommend you shop for 2nd hand Smartmedia cards instead.

Cant get anything when i installed the memory card for my olympus

If this is a C-700 camera the only memory card that can be used in that camera is a Smartmedia card from 16mb to 128mb. An xD card is not even supported by that camera at all.

Ruined Memory Card??

No one can expend efforts to diagnose, repair or let alone talk to you about what may be a 25 to 30 dollar memory card. I've had dozens of such failures but I deal with a fleet of devices and these are spread over the world now. The card, if the camera will not format it is tossed and you get a new one. Whatever you plugged it into is marked as suspect and I'd not do that again.

Smart Media obsolete?

I have a fuji finepix 601 working with smartmedia cards, however the newer version of it, the 610 now has XD-cards which are even smaller. Olympus also is using XD cards for their new cameras. It looks like smartmedia is becoming obsolete indeed, as the maximum card size is 128 mb and other card form go much further. I don t see new cameras being sold with smartmedia cards, but the smartmedia cards are still sold in most shops, so it may be wise to buy an extra one if you want to use your olympus camera on the long term.

I have connected my FinePix digital camera to my Windows PC and I still can't view the images on the SmartMedia or xD-Picture Card. What should I do?

If the images on a SmartMedia or xD-Picture Card fail to appear when the camera is connected to a Windows PC, one of the situations listed below may apply. 1. There may be a problem with the SmartMedia or xD-Picture Card. Check that the images can be viewed on the digital camera. If the images cannot be viewed on the digital camera, gently wipe the gold colored contact area on the SmartMedia or xD-Picture Card with a soft cloth and then check again. 2. "PC Camera" may be selected as the USB setting on the digital camera. Change the USB setting to DSC or select DSC in USB MODE. * This only applies to models with a USB Setting or USB MODE option in the SETUP screen. 3. Does the LCD monitor on the digital camera show that the USB connection is active (USB, DSC or a USB symbol with an arrow is shown on the LCD monitor)? If not, the digital camera and PC may not be connected correctly. Check the items listed below. a) Restart the PC and reconnect the USB cable. b) If the PC has multiple USB ports, connect the cable to a different USB port. If steps a) and b) have both been tried and there is still no USB connection indicator displayed on the LCD monitor, there may be a problem with the digital camera or USB cable. Contact an authorized Fujifilm service center and ask them to check the digital camera together with the USB cable. Refer to the Digital Equipment Repair page for information such as the procedure for requesting checks and the locations of authorized Fujifilm service outlets. 4. The USB driver may not be installed correctly. Download the USB driver from the Fujifilm general downloads web page and re-install the driver. 5. The card may not be recognized correctly if the camera is connected to an added USB interface board or via a USB hub. Always use a factory installed USB port and connect the camera directly to the USB port on the PC.
