The HDMI port does not support computer connections. You can only connect a PC to the VGA port. (The computer signal from the video card isn't the same format as the output of a Blu-ray player.) The best choice might be a HDMI to VGA cable if your computer doesn't have a VGA port. (If it does have a VGA port, enable it if needed and use a VGA cable.) There will be signal loss on the HDMI to VGA cable (digital to analog conversion). If you were planning to watch DVDs played on the laptop, you might get as good a picture with the laptop's own screen.
