The printer keeps dropping the network connection, the cables both at the printer, and at the router have been changed

Hi I checked the router information, the printer has a different IP address than that it is 192.168.0.102, I did note that the router is only seeing one device on the network, it is seeing one computer, it is not seeing the other computer nor is it identifying the printer. I am not sure how this is possible since the other computer is online and on the network, and the printer is supposedly on the network as well. The router is a DLink Router

First connect network from printer to your router in lan port. then find the ip of router. By default it's ip is 192.168.1.1 Then you need to change the printer ip with your router settings set printer ip to 192.168.1.5 subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 then check. First find the ip of router. Follow below procedure to find lan settings of router. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router.Let me know if you need further assistance. • For that check the computer ip where router is in network then if your set your printer ip as range of your computer ip.
Means if your computer ip is 192.168.1.6 then set first 3 digts same in printer ip settings 192.168.1.7 only last number is differ. Then your printer is in network of your computer and router.

Lost my network printer connection

creating the network again would probably solve the issue with it because now you are changing up the hardware for the router. so you will have to set the permissons on the router and the permisons on the comuter to allow the connection to the printer the print share network.

looks to me you have the awnser to your own issue, if you list the router model and what operating system you are running I can give you a more indepth break down.

Tip

Multiple Computers on Same Network, Continual Internet Connection Dropout

After adding that second or third computer to your home network are you constantly fighting over who's using the internet connection? When your high schooler logs into his facebook chat, are you getting dropped off of your internet connection?
Or have you added a wifi router and is your whole network not staying connected like it did before you added your wifi?
These are common issues and we answer these questions often at FixYa.
Here is s a tip that will get you past the internet connection being dropped by someone else on your network attempting to log into the internet or help you get that wifi up and working with out all the cut outs and drop offs.

Follow this simple procedure and you'll be amazed!
1. Turn off everything. Turn off computers, routers, modem, printers... everything that's on your LAN (local area network) or home ethernet.
2. Turn on your wireless router next. With the ethernet cable connected to your wifi router to your modem and let it cycle up to running. If you aren't running wifi, do this with your main router. Make sure your modem and everything else is still off.
3. Turn on your modem (enet cable attached to wifi router or main router) and let the modem cycle up to running.

What you've done is allowed your wifi router to be established as the "MAC" Address for your modem. Modems look for a single MAC address. Once the router has this address, the router will maintain the connection with the modem and the internet, AND will assign MAC addresses to your computers, network printers, network routers etc, while still maintaining your connection to the internet.

4. Turn on all other peripherals, computers and network printers. At this point the order of power up isn't important, because your router will be assigning separate addresses to all the computers, etc on your network.

That's it! The secret's out! Just keep this handy... remember if you have power outage, you'll need to reboot in this order again... Happy Home Networking

I use a Netgear wireless router and dongle (about 1 year old, its the 3rd. router I have bought over the years) Recently the wireless connection keeps dropping, but if I plug in a LAN cable the connection...

If your wireless connection drops ,it means you need to changed channel number of router for that you need to login to router

please follow steps to login to router

1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually by typing 'http://192.168.1.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
now you would be able to changed channel on router
and check connection

No connection ref hp officejet pro 8500 a909a

How are you connecting to the printer (over the network or a direct USB connection)? If you are using a USB connection, try a new cable or plugging into a different USB port. If you use a USB hub, try a direct connection.

If you are using a network connection, check if your firewall is blocking the connection. Also check that the router (or switch) didn't dropped the network connection and didn't re-synch with the printer (or worse changed the IP address of the printer).

I hope this helps.

My internet keeps dro, i have installed filters ,

There is one case where everything is fine but still connection drops too often.---
This happens when the network type of your laptop is "public" as ublic networks are less secure, routers usually drop connections after sme time. Change the network type to "private". This should solve your problem. There is one more setting in your router where is says something like "automatically login when disconnected". Selecting this option allows automatically login to ISP when connection is dropped from ISP temporarily.

If network connectivity itself is the problem then you can debug followingly.

Step-1:
If ISP company says everything is fine from their side, then you need to check your router. To confirm this first connect the wall outlet of ISP to your laptop and check network connectivity. If there is problem, then ISP has to fix it.

Step-2:
If connection works fine then ISP is fine and you need to check your router settings. Now check network connectivity by connecting the laptop to the router through a ethernet wire. If the network does not work then your router hardware could be wrong and may need servicing or replacement. If this works fine then go to step-3.

Step-3:
Try resetting your router by using a paperclip. Usually the reset button can be found at the backside of your router. This will reset all the settings and there by making as good as a fresh one. Try to access internet from a place close to router where router signal is strong.
Change authentication and other network settings of your router to connect to ISP. Now network should work fine. Ensure that you set router password to avoid unauthorized access to your router by others.

I have a HP LJ P2015n. Should be on our network

Hi,
As i understand your concern you have network printer which you want to setup with your network. And right now your printer is connected with the computer using a usb be cable. Thats the main reason why it is having different ip address because it don't required any ip address once you tried to connect your printer through usb cable. I can suggest you that once you connect your printer on the network and you will get the option to network setup on your printer where you can assigned static ip to you printer which is the range for your router or network device called DHCP.

I believe that will help your resolve your concern.

Thanks & Regards

D link network connection keeps dropping off

Router connected to switch is not advisable, router has already built-in port for LAN, mostly 4 ports if you do so, you need to use cross-over the cable check this site http://www.incentre.net/incentre/frame/ethernet.html
