How to conect to wifi

You need to obtain and connect a wireless router to the modem to add a wireless network. Use an RJ-45 between the WAN port on the router and to the yellow port on the TM822G (or similar Arris telephony modem). Check with your ISP. If you have set your computer to obtain an IP address and DNS server automatically, you will have the router's wired connection set up immediately.

You will need to check the router's manual to find its IP address and administrative user name and password. Using a computer with a wired ethernet connection to the router, log in and set up the wireless network; you probably will want to change the network's default name to one that is easier to remember. Enable the encryption and use a password on your wireless network. (I recommend disabling the guest account option.)

Then go to your devices that can connect to the wireless network and set them up to find that network. (For some tablets, see the Settings > Network > Wireless menus. On Windows 7 and 8 computers, enable the wireless adapter if needed. Then go to the Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center. Then set up a new connection.) Some routers have a WPS button on the back or front. If you press this button when prompted by the device, the router will send out a signal that will pair the device and the router without much effort. For other devices, you will need set the device to search for available networks and then type in the password.

I hope this helps.

Have been working with att tech to enable for wireless and cannot get this to do anything

Are you able to see any available wireless networks?

Make sure the wireless radio is on, the wireless switch should be located above the keyboard, it has the picture of a satellite.

My wlan will not enable

Check that wireless service is running
XP: Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, then press Enter.
Scroll down to "Wireless Zero Configuration" and right click on it and select Properties. Set it to Automatic and not Disabled, and press the Start button, then click OK.
That should start the service.
7 (vista): Click Start, type services.msc, then press Enter.
Scroll down to "WLAN AutoConfig" and right click on it and select Properties. Set it to Automatic and not Disabled, and press the Start button, then click OK.
That should start the service.

To enable wireless adapter we need to go to device manager and enable it.
XP:
1. Right click on My Computer and click on properties.
2. Click on Hardware tab on system properties window.
3. Click on Device Manager
To go to device manager we need to click on the device manager button.
Now we can see all the hardware devices connected to the computer. To see the status of our wireless adapter click on network adapters.
4. Enable the Wireless adapter
To enable wireless adapter, right click on it and click on enable.
7 (vista):
  1. Open the Start Menu by clicking the Start button. Click on Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel, click on Network and Internet.
  3. In the Network and Internet panel, click Network and Sharing Center.
  4. In the Network and Sharing Center, click "Manage network connections" in the Tasks list on the left side of the window.
  5. The Network Connections manager will open. Right-click the icon labeled Wireless Network Connection and click Enable on the menu displayed.

The last step checks if you have the wireless switch on or off. Locate the wireless button (in the middle, above the keyboard). Try to toggle it, see if is says anything.

The Network and Sharing Center in Microsoft* Windows Vista* can be used to set up a secure wireless connection to the Internet.

How can i connect my desktop computer to the internet plz i need someone to help

Currently, the most common way to connect a desktop system to the internet, is by using the network jack to connect to a broadband cable modem or DSL modem. To do either you must have the service from either you cable provider or phone company (For DSL) and have the modem device for the service. Fees run $20 to $50 a month depending on speed you subscribe.
You connect the device to the system using a CAT5 network cable to a RJ45 (8 wire telephone type jack). Some Cable/DSL modems also have USB connection capability for the few systems these days that do not have a built in RJ45 connector To use them, you install the associated software, then connect the USB cable when prompted.
If you don't have Cable/DSL then dial up telephone modem is the next option, this requires a telephone modem that has an RJ11c telephone cord jack connection, most current computers only have a telephone modem as an option, but they can still be bought for around $20 and you will require a dial up internet service (Few remain, one is Netzero in the USA)

Where is the switch or function key combination to turn on wireless connection?

It's difficult to tell, but there seems to be a small switch on the front, that may activate the wireless connection. If that isn't it, you can usually access the modems through control panel, under 'network and internet,' and the wireless assistant, or possibly the network and sharing center; if the wireless modem is disabled, right clicking on the icon will usually give you an option to activate it, or you can connect to a network through the network and sharing center, as well as detecting networks, and that will tell you whether or not the thing is working.

I am having problems with my wireless connection. I was able to connect to my personal network but one day it wouldn't connect and now I'm lucky if I can connect/stay connected to a local network. Is this...

1. If the physical wireless switch is turned ON then use the Windows Mobility Center to turn on the WLAN adapter.

2. Configure the WLAN autoconfig service to start automatically. Open Services window to make this setting.

3. Reinstall the original wireless adapter driver. Uninstall the driver from device manager under the network adaptor category then restart the Computer before reinstalling.

4. If available, download and install a wireless adapter driver update from the Computer manufacturer support site.

5. If possible test, another computer on the wireless network.

6. Repair the wireless connection.

a. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
b. In the Control Panel window, click Network and Internet .
c. In the Network and Internet window, click Network and Sharing Center .
d. In the Network and Sharing Center window, under Tasks , click Diagnose and Repair .
e. Follow the suggestions in the Windows Network Diagnostics window to repair the failed network or internet connection.

7. Disable Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).

8. Boot the computer into safe mode with networking and test the wireless connection in Internet Explorer.
If the connection works in safe mode, the issue is likely caused by anti-virus or anti-spyware software. Configure the software properly per the manufacturer's instructions.

9. Reset the router and/or modem per the manufacturer's instructions.

Enabling ICS
To enable ICS, on your host computer:

1. Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.

2. Right-click the connection that you want to share, and then click Properties. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3. Click the Sharing tab, and then select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection check box.
NoteThe Sharing tab will not be available if you have only one network connection.

4. If desired, you can also select the Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection check box.

5. Optionally, to allow other network users to use services running on your network, click Settings and select the services you want to allow.

When you enable ICS, your local area network (LAN) connection gets a new static IP address and configuration, so you'll need to reestablish any TCP/IP connections between your host computer and the other network computers.
To test your network and Internet connection, see if you can share files between computers and make sure each computer can reach a website.

---------

Once you have done the above, connect the Ethernet cord to the WAN/Modem port on the Linksys router and set the router to Dynamic IP. Then connect another computer to one of the LAN numbered ports on the router and they will have internet. Remember your computer MUST be on for the computers connected to the Linksys to get internet.
