Question about Jenn-Air Dishwashers

This dishwasher smells so bad that it makes you want to throw up,Even after you wash and empty it. After an hour or two you do not want to get your nose close. Jenn-air claims they have not had problems like the one mentioned. BS

I have used this more than just a few times. Does not last. I have had three different experts try to fix this problem. The dealer said it was because I cleaned the food off before I ran the washer. Said it needed some food on plates to create some kind of chemical reaction. Ha . I have tried every thing including changing the drain hose to different configurations. My wife thinks sitting it by the curb for a few days might help. I think she may be right.

Hello. Do this. Empty any dishes out of the machine and pour 2 cups of white vinegar right into the tub of the machine. Then run the pot scrubber cycle using the hottest water setting. This will clean and freshen your dishwasher. REpeat when needed. Joe

Try running the dishwasher through with a cupful of white vinegar (place the cup inside the dishwasher with the vinegar in it)...
vinegar tends to disinfect and makes stuff that smell bad come fresh... Even though vinegar smells bad, it does not stink up stuff...

Perhaps the dirt trap could have been clogged thus getting the weird smells.... You have to fiddle around to find the source of the smell....

Do not use soap meant for hand-washing.. I did that once and the whole dishwasher was full of bubbles... it is never meant to be used in a dishwasher..

How do we remove the horrible smell in our Bosch dishwasher?

First check out your model to see if it has a built in garbage disposal, if so, make sure it is not mucked up.
Run hot water down your sink drain while running the sinks garbage disposal. Pour baking soda down your sink garbage disposal followed by white vinegar. Let it sit and foam. Run hot water down sink disposer while running. When finished:
Run empty dishwasher with no soap, let dishwasher fill with hot water to wash and then pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the bottom and resume wash. Make sure you take it through the dry cycle. When finished, open dishwasher and let it air for a couple of hours, longer if you live in humid area. Hope these steps do the trick.

The washing smells of dirty water, have tried all sorts, but cannot get rid of the smell.

Several things to try:

Check the empty pump filter, that may be clogged with smelly debris
Ensure that the empty pipe is correctly inserted into the drain pipe and that there is a trap on the drain that stops smells coming back
Finally (This may sound odd) with no clothing in the machine, throw 3 dishwasher tablets in the drum and run it through the hottest cycle the machine can run. Smells can often be bacterial caused by biological washing powder which builds up bugs in the machine. Dishwasher tablets are anti-bacterial and will kill the bugs.

Smell of 'dirty'water when door open. Spins and empties well. no sign of leakage of water. Have used washing machine cleaner but no difference.

Some washing machine guys call this a "Bug" in the machine. Usually caused by a build up of bacteria from the baterial washing powder you use. The easy way to fix this is to use an anti biological cleaner.... Which is what dishwasher tablets are.

Take 3 dishwasher tablets, throw them in the drum, put the machine on the hottest wash you can select and let it run the full cycle with no clothing in the machine. This will probably fix your problem.

Dishwasher has a terrible odor in it. I'm guessing it came from an empty sauerkraut glass jar and lid I put through the wash, heated dry and sanitize cycle. How do I get rid of that nasty, something...

Check whether the smell comes from the main drain. Pull your dish washer drain hose and check.

Leave dishwasher door open for few hours. Hope no rate has died inside the machine.

Run a empty wash several times!

Our clothes are coming pout smelling bad after a wash. The machine is old. We do not know if there is a filter to clean out? Not even adding SHOUT will help the smell.

You should put one half cup of bleach in the washer and let it fill. After it sets for an hour run it thru a cycle refil and do it again. All washers have water left in them even when they empty so it sounds like you had stale water in it and possibly mold bleach will take care of it and a few cycles.

Why does my new dishwasher (in a new home)smell

You have to leave it open atleast 2 hours after the wash. Atleast the door left half open.

Or the smell must be flowing from your main drain pipe!!

My Kenmore ultraGuard has never heated the water and throws food

Sounds like a bad timer. Its not right. I disagree with your repairman's assessment. A typical wash cycle for a dishwasher is 20 -30 min.

Bad smell

Try running washer empty with soap or tablet in the regular cup and baking soda in the secondary cup. After cycle is complete and somewhat dry inside leave slightly open to allow air circulation overnight. This should help.
