Question about Goodman Air Conditioners

1 Answer

Coil piston I have a goodman evap coil, model# capf3642c6aa, and the condenser that I bought for it, is a model# gsc130421ac but didn't come with the replacement piston for the indoor coil. So my question is if I can use the piston that comes in the indoor coil with this condenser.

If you purchased it as a package the right piston may already be installed in the indoor Evaporator coil. When shipped the extra piston if needed is packaged with the outdoor section condensing unit.

Goodman unit runs and at the a-coil there is a piston where your suction and liquid lines connect. On the liquid side the piston is cold but warm on the other side of piston. A/C unit will not cool.

That piston is the metering device. On the liquid line, before the metering device it is always warm (this is sub cooled, high pressure liquid), but should flash to low pressure, lower temperature vapor once it passes through the metering device. The suction and liquid line never connect together. The liquid line brings liquid from the condenser to the evaporator. The suction line brings super heated vapor from the evaporator to the compressor. Since the unit does run, I'd have to put a gauge on it,but if I had to guess, I'd guess you have high head pressure. Check for dirt or debris on the condenser, check for proper clearance of the condensing unit and check for operation and directional rotation of the condenser fan. This could also be the result of an over charge.

My frigidaire window unit is leaking into my house. I removed the unit to clean the coils, this didn't remedy the problem. It is properly tilted to the outside.

behind the dilter is the evapator and behind the evaperator and underneath is the pan that holds the condensate. look at the pan and see how dirty if it is then clean it . Check the evap coil to be certain it is clean . and double check that it is tilted enough . 1 inch or a bit more hope this help let me know

Any diagrams on installing a 410A TXV on a R-22 Evap coil?

You don't install a 410A TXV on an R-22 Evaporator coil.
If converting your system to a 410A, then you must be using a 410A condenser, and an evap coil, and drier rated for 410A.........

Goodman Model # cpke241AB not cooling always running

First locate the air handler.Open the access panel and you will see the evap coil. You will clean the coil in the unit,I use a wire brush and coil/evap cleaner.I dont typically clean the blower but if you must there will be 2 or 3 screws and some electrical that you will need to disconnect.then the blower assembly will slide out and you can clean it outside,Note where you disconnect the electrical connections --good luck!

Have goodman unit, ac unit running 55 suction, 210 high side. cleaned condenser coils and charge to 10 degrees supercool. suction at 65, discharge 245, why did my discharge go so high

You should have liquid line filter/dryer that maybe restricted or there is a restriction in the orfice inside the evap coil normal operating pressures are 68/ 180

Goodman a/c not cooling

It looks like you did make some improvements when you replaced the coil and metering devise. The fact that this system never ran right "out of the box" is suspicious. My first instinct is that the system is either unmatched in size or the whole system is sized incorrectly. Do your Heat gain/Loss calcs and see if it matches close to what is in there, both for the coil and condenser. Secondly double check that the evap you installed is matched the same as the condenser. In some situations the ID coil can be over sized by a 1/2 ton. But that is the only exception and it does not apply to all cases.

If the system is sized and matched correctly, then I would consider the compressor to be the problem.
