SOURCE: bad print heads

This is a continuing problem we have with our Fargo DTC550 printer. If you remove the printhead from the printer and look at the underside you will see a nick on the head in the same area you are getting a line on your card. Fargo claims we damaged the head due to not keeping the printer clean even though we clean at every ribbon change. I believe that the damage happens when a plastic debris (from the plastic card) gets between the card and the head. You must check your card stock to make sure there is no plastic debris on them. Bottom line, you have to replace the head and at the time it costs $700 per head.

My printer is Fargo DTC550 and I'm using HID 1326 card for printing. I cannot get this equipment to function correctly. I had no
problems installing the software and hooking up the printer to make the ID
cards, but all attempts to print an ID card have failed. Every card I have
tried to make has been unsatisfactory, with colours not printing, very poor
image quality, and the lamination device consistently jamming for every
single card I have tried to make.
Sir, please help me.

SOURCE: Fargo 4250 card printer runs, but doesn't print.

take the ribbon out, and rewind it a little bit and see if you see print on it. if you dont, chances are your printhead is either bad or has loose cables going into it.

if you do see print, either your card is not aligning properly or the head lift motor might not be working (when the unit on, open the door, and press both buttons at the same time and see if the printhead does an up and down motion), platen roller is bad

SOURCE: DTC550 Fargo printer it says out of ribbon with new installed

Check to see if the RFID (green ring) from the old ribbon has come off and is stuck near the reader (located behind the green stem). I've seen that happen. I've also see some bad RFID rings. If that happens they should have a warranty from Fargo.

PVC HID 1000 cards were getting stuck/bent in the Lamination module of our DTC550 printer. Talked to the tech department where we bought the printer/lamination module. They suggest because we are using...

Turning down the lam temp and dwell on the lam unit should have no effect on image color - they affect the processes only AFTER the printing of the card is complete. Make sure you were making adjustments to the LAMINATION settings, not the printing settings.

As to the noise, squeeks and groans emanating from the lam unit usually means mis-loaded lam film. Check the loading of the lam film in the printer and make sure it is not binding on the spools, and that the spools turn smoothly. Other than that, it could just be your printer showing signs of age. They have been out of production for more than 5 years, and do break down with age and usage.

Edge to edge print problem

The Fargo DTC550 will not be able to print an "over the edge" card. Any Direct To Card printers will have a white line on the edges. There are several printers that are able to print covering the entire card, those printers are called Reverse Transfer or Fargo's High Definition Printers. One printer that I do recommend is the Fargo HDP5000, you can read more about it at: http://printers.idcardgroup.com/productdetails.aspx?item=hdp5000

Not working dtc550

Since the printer prints the test page from the driver, most likely the problem is with your Cardfive software. To test this, try printing a card on the printer from Microsoft Word or Notepad. Just remember to set your page size or you will get multiple cards printed. The Fargo printer is just a windows printer and may receive output from any windows software.
