Yes. It's called a Service Manual.

This is HP Support, and the download page for the HP G71 Series Notebooks, and the Compaq Presario CQ71 Series Notebooks, Service Manual,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3946896&

On this page left-click on -

Compaq Presario CQ71 Notebook PC and HP G71 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide

This is a PDF file.
It may take a few seconds before you see the first page, (May take up to 30 seconds in some cases), and additional time for the file to fully download.

Information if you are not aware.

You can save this PDF file to your computer.
This way you won't have to download it again, and can burn it to CD for safe keeping.
After burning it to CD, and checking to see if it's a good copy, you can delete it from your computer, and save harddrive space.

[You have Adobe Reader on the computer you are using now, which uses PDF files.
I suggest downloading the newest version, (Adobe Reader 9.3.4), if you do not have it already]

To Save:

At the top header of the PDF file is the Floppy Disk icon.
It is the second icon from the left.
Hovering your mouse cursor over it well briefly reveal,
"Click to save this file to your computer or another location"

After you left-click on the Floppy Disk icon a small window will come up.
Save a copy...

You can make sure where you want the file to download to.
At the top of the Save a copy... window is a box with - Save In:
to the left of it.

In the box states where the PDF file will download to.
I suggest you download it to your My Documents folder, (Windows XP), if it doesn't already state this.

Left-click on the blue down arrow to the right of the box.
In the list left-click on My Documents.

Before you finish:

The file name is c01713747.pdf
Unless you wish to search for c01713747.pdf, you can add to this file name.

In the File name: box at the bottom, put your mouse cursor in the box, after the f in c01713747.pdf
Left-click twice.

Make one space using your spacebar.
Type HP G71 Service Manual.

Now go to the bottom right, and left-click on Save.

Much easier to find this PDF file on your computer, and on a saved CD disk.

(On your computer left-click on Start, then on My Documents.
When you see the PDF file name, double-click on it)

Some of the chapter headings:

1) Product Description

2) External Component Identification

3) Illustrated Parts Catalog.
(Illustrated exploded drawing of the laptop, parts numbered, and parts identified by name)

4) Removal and Replacement Procedures

(Removing and replacing the FRU's.
Field Replacement Units.
Some examples: Processor, Ram Memory, Harddrive, Motherboard, Display Panel, {LCD screen, and associated parts)

5) Setup Utility

6) Specifications

7) Screw Listing

(Identification of the various screws used.
There are 71 screws used if I counted correctly.
There are 7 different sizes, and threads used.
Suggest you do not mix these puppies up, as some of the screws look the same with a cursory glance.

They are NOT.

Suggest you use a multi-compartment container, and label the compartments as to the area the screws came out of.
You can use a clean egg container in a pinch, and label each egg holder)

NOTE*

A) ALL electrical sources MUST be removed from the laptop, before disassembling!

Remove the AC adapter, (Charger), and the Battery

B) I deeply suggest buying, and wearing an ESD wrist strap, and connecting the alligator clip to a good ground source.
(Electro-Static Discharge)

An ESD wrist strap runs about $6.

Example of one,

I connect mine, to the metal frame of an empty desktop computer case.

For questions please state in a Comment.

Need to replace mouse button on HP notebook

These come cheaper already attached to the palmrest. These can be had on Ebay for around 15-20 bucks. Otherwise, you still have to take the laptop apart and then you will have to teardown the palmrest to change out a mouse button. Below is the link for the service manual to assist in the disassembly.

Look in section 6.3 for dissasemly instructions on how to take apart the laptop.

Then go to page 6-51 of the service manual and it shows you a picture of the BIOS Battery as it looks to be in the top cover.
