My router is not accepting my username and password and I am certain that it is what I am typing in. I even tried using caps and lower case letters as well as a combo. of both. It also will not accept admin for the username and "blank" for the password?!

If your router is not accepting the username and password that you changed or the default information then your best bet is to press the reset button on the back of the router for 5-10 seconds. This will clear all the settings back to the manufacture default settings but will allow you to sign back into it and complete the setup again.

I have an Amazon Kimble and now have a new WuFi service. I don't have or don't rember ehw password so I can't get into the store to download books. Can you help?

Is it WiFi in your home? If that's the case, and, you still can't remember/find your network's username and password--try resetting the wireless router (or access point--AP) to default factory settings. Use your PC or laptop to reenter factory settings with the router's/AP's networking address entered into a browser (likely Internet Explorer)--it should appear as something like 168.192.0.1 (depending upon your particular router)--it's in the manual.

If you don't have a manual, download the PDF version from the router/AP manufacturer online. Navigate within the menus provided on your PC's/laptop's screen. One of the menus should offer default factory reset. Indicate "Yes." (If you can't read a PDF file on your PC/laptop, download and install the free Adobe Reader from adobe.com.)

Once the router is reset, the manual indicates the temporary username and password to use for WiFi. This is the time, though, to invoke security once again for the router/AP--enter a sensible and secure username and password--something memorable, yet difficult for others to determine. Use letters, numbers, and even certain special characters. Follow the instructions to set up security, replacing the simple username and password--use WPA2 or WPA (encryption). WPA2 is the most secure.

Now's the time to configure the Kindle or other tablet: You need to find the WiFI settings menu in your Kindle--after enabling WiFI in the tablet, find your router/AP user name you just configured via your PC/Laptop in the Kindle menu--perhaps among those from other WiFi signals from neighbors or businesses. Choose your username, and enter the password. It should connect--securely now.

In a few locales in America (say, in California), not configuring security even proves illegal. Always secure your wireless network--people actually may scan for networks in order to share bandwidth--or, far worse, to garner sensitive personal info and otherwise hack in. Even these days, many people refuse to take sensible steps towards security--they're happy to get a connection of any type--not being locked out of their WiFI by forgotten security, either. That's a "shortcut to thinking."

I want to find the router password/security key for others can use it,

to find the security key, you need to be connected hardwired to the netgear. or if you have a computer that is currently currently connected to it, try to open a browser and go to the address bar and delete everything inside it even the http:\\. now type this numbers 192.168.1.1, it should ask you now for the user name and password. username is " admin" all in lower case. password is " password" all in lower case. it would take you now to the netgear page. on the leftside of the page you would see WIRELESS SETTINGS. click on it. you would see your network name inside SSID and security key inside PASSPHRASE.

Cannot set password at IP address provied. says authentication required. Help set up router per directions

Hi!

If you've forgot (or don't know) the password for your router, reset it by pressing the Reset button on its back (next to the antenna) for 20 seconds. Allow it 2 minutes to fully restart itself.

Afterwards, go to 192.168.1.1 and login using:
Username: admin
Password: password
(all lower case letters)

Refer to the User's guide to reconfigure your router; refer to page 6 and on...

If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

Best regards,
Pelu.

Want to connect an iPad to wireless router, it won't accept password ?

Make sure you are entering the letters in upper-case when entering the password to connect to this router. The iPad always shows letters on the keyboard in upper-case, but they may be entered in lower-case and it will not connect.

I am having a trouble in signing in to my newly download yahoo messenger version 10

well though the problem is not clearly stated i am assuming that it isnt accepting your password or username....make sure that you are entering that information EXACTLY as you wrote it down (you should always keep that info handy somewere) and be sure that you know that your password is case sensitive which mean that if you have capital letters in your password then you have to enter them with caps but if your pw is lower case then make sure your caps lock is off!

What is default username and password?

Try admin as the user and administrator as the password. These are case sensitive. If they don't work in that order reverse them and try them and even go all capital letters.

Wan diag light stays red - is router bad?

Did you try a hard reset:
. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models).

if the power led stays red, you need a new router.
