I cannot load my pictures from my camera onto my computer with the usb cable plugged in

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Can not load pictures to pc VPC-S880

Hi,

I highly recommend that you instead consider using a card reader to move the photos or videos to your computer. Card reader's do not require software (although Windows 98 and earlier may require drivers), are very inexpensive, are much faster downloading files from the camera, do not use the camera's batteries during the download, and are much less prone to file corruption of the photos during the download.Really, it would be better for the camera user if one of these was included with the camera instead of the cable and bundled software. You place the camera's card in the reader, plug the reader into the USB port, and your computer sees it as a hard drive. You simply copy/paste or drag/drop your photos onto your hard drive. For this simplicity, most professional photographers utilize card readers exclusively. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache if you convert to using one of these. Also make sure that you get a reader that is clearly stated capable of reading your card, particularly if you use SD-HC, XD, CF, or MS cards.

Thank you!

I dont know how to download the pictures from my camera which is a p80 nikon coolpix onto my computer. please help

If the camera uses a memory card things are simple ..just insert the camera with the usb cable and the pc will see the card like a removable device into my computer folder...from its folder you can actually copy /paste the picture in the computer ..
if not..you need a driver ..(probably you have one that came on a cd with the camera) just install the driver and the computer will communicate with the camera
after that either will see it into the my computer folder...or use a manager for picture to import from device ...use windows picture manager ..or the manager that usually came on the driver cd ..or just any other manager ...
Coose the import from device feature ...select the pictures and the folder (follow instructions) and download them ...be careful cause some of them have option to delete the picture after download and you may not want this...

I pushed my USB cable from my Easyshare Kodak camera, into another camera, now my camera wont load pictures onto my PC Can this be fixed by buying a new USB Cable?

That's the simplest and cheapest method of finding out. USB cables are cheap; try another. Hopefully you didn't transfer the damage from the USB cable back into your Kodak. If the USB cable looks damaged, then more than likely that is your problem.

If your memory card in the Kodak can be removed (and the pictures are on it) you can also get an inexpensive card reader (Targus, ~$12 at Walmart) to transfer your images to your PC.

How do I download pictures onto my computer

To load your digital pictures onto your computer, you will need a card reader (hooked up to your computer via a USB) and your memory card. Some cameras allow you to hook a USB right into your camera without removing the memory card.
If required, you will load your memory card into the card reader. Your digital media will appear as another drive on your computer. Click the drive and your photos will appear in a folder on the drive. You can view your pictures immediately by double-clicking the file. From here, you can save your pictures directly to any folder on your computer.
Additional notes:
  • Consider purchasing photo manipulation software like PhotoShop or Fireworks. Use this software to fix common photo problems (poor light, etc) or add effects like text and color.
  • Print your photos on photo paper.

Your camera manual will tell if transfer from internal memory to card is possible. Some do some do not. Another USB cord should not be very expensive
