EGR valve may be stuck closed allowing pinging . The Knock sensor can also go bad and not retard timing allowing pinging also . Heavy carbon buildup in the combustion chamber can increase compression causing pinging .
Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
check outthis electric no heat tip...
Sounds like the glow bar is comming on but no flame. Make sure the gas is turned on.
If still not working the problem might be one of the safty coils on the top of the gas valve may have an open circuit or the glow bar sensor may have an open circuit.
Depending on your skill level
unplug the dryer and shut off the gas. Using a multi meter check the resistance of the safty coils on the gas valve. There is a coil replacement kit you can purchase to replace the gas coils. Check the resistance across the glow bar sensor. It is located on the gas funel. It is a little black box with two wires comming from it. It should be a closed circuit untill it senses the light of the glow bar then the circuit will open allowing the gas valve to open. If open, replace.
It could be a clog in the supply pipes inside the dryer itself or a faulty regulator your best bet it to find a local repair shop as dealing with any gas appliance without proper knowledge can destroy your appliance or worse you PS: do you smell gas when it runs if so then it could be the igniter is faulty!
