Compaq presario is not reading cd , i put one in and the light turns green for a second and then nothing , is there any fix to this? maybe a new hard drive ? computer seems slow also ran all the clean processes thanks

Could be one of two things: either the power supply is going bad or the RAM is either going bad or isn't seated properly inside.
First thing I would try would be to re-seat all the memory chips inside the computer. There could be up to 4 sticks of memory in some computers. If this doesn't work, try pulling the memory out of the computer one stick and a time and booting the PC. If it boots, you've found your bad memory stick. Put all the others back in and replace the faulty one.
If none of this works, you might consider calling HP (maker for compaq) for support on getting the power supply replaced.
