Don't know how to "simply plug it into my sound...

Just bought an American Starpower Dual Wireless Microphone System. I assumed I could plug it into a boom box or maybe a TV. I just can't get it to work. The problem seems to be to simple to be covered on the box or in the directions. It just says plug it in. Help.
