Hi. Are these cables ethernet cables? Ok, let's assumed that these cables are ethernet cables. All you need to do is to Connect the blue cable to your modem. then on your laptop, search and add the wireless router. Once the wireless router has been added to your computer you should be able to connect to the internet. The physical connection should be from you modem, use the blue cable and connect it to your routers first port. That should do it.

I have followed instructions (several times) to connect my dlink router dir-615 and once I unplug the ethernet cable and attach to dlink (blue slot 1) and plug in power to the router....it no longer can...

the blue socket should be connected to your modem, it is this modem that supplies the internet for your router to distribute to your computers so if you disconnect the blue cable from your router you are disconnecting the internet

Connecting Multiple Computers
thru a router to internet

Tips on choosing the right network can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/install.mspx

Since you said there are other computer in the house I assume they will all
go thru the router. I also assume you are using ethernet to connect the new
computer so it will be a "wired" connection. A rounter can also have wireless
connections if the other computers have wireless internet on the other
computers.

To connect more than one computer to the Internet, you need a router.
A router allows you to connect several computers to each other and to the
Internet. The router sits between your computers and the modem provided by your
ISP. You connect the router to the modem, and then connect all your computers to
the router.

To connect a router and multiple computers to the
Internet

Contact an Internet service provider (ISP) and have them configure
an Internet connection to your home. If possible, have the ISP place the modem
in the room with your primary computer.

Connect your router to your modem in one of the two following
ways:

If you currently have a computer connected directly to your
modem:
Unplug the network cable from the back of your computer, and
plug it into the port labeled Internet, WAN,
or WLAN on the back of your router.

If you don't currently have your computer connected to the
Internet:
Plug one end of a network cable (included with your router)
into your modem, and the other end of the network cable into the
Internet, WAN, or WLAN port
on your router.

Plug in your router. After a minute or two, the Internet, WAN, or WLAN light
on your router should light up, indicating that it has successfully connected to
your modem.

Determine whether your computer has a network adapter, and add one if
necessary. Instructions to determine if you have a network adaptor or to install
a Network adaptor can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/netadapter.mspx

Shut down your computer by clicking Start and then clicking
Turn Off Computer. Then click Turn Off.

Connect the network cable to your computer's network adapter.

Connect the other end of the network cable to your network equipment.

Start your computer and log on to Windows. Windows automatically detects that
you are connected to the Internet.

Repeat steps 6, 7, and 8 for each one of your computers. If you have a
computer in a different room you can find instructions at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/wired.m

Why does this keep happening??? Please advise...

Your modem is set to only allow one main IP address, which it assigned to your laptop.

Connect the cables through the router, then unplug first the modem, then the router.

Wait 45 seconds, then plug in router, wait 5 seconds, then plug in modem.

Give it a few seconds to talk to everything, and you should be good to go.

My net gear router is not connecting

Hello!

If the yellow cable is already connected from the modem to the router, the blue cable (must be an ethernet cat 5 cable) must be connected from one of the regular LAN port of the router to the back of your computer. Ethernet card should be installed on your pc so you can connect the blue cable.

if you are still having trouble configuring your device, call supportrix and use supportcall as your promo code for 1 free technical support.

Broadband router

You need to plug your blue cable back into your laptop and the other end needs to go into your hughes modem, or you could leave the end that is plugged into your hughes modem and put the end that is now in the desktop modem into your laptop instead. To have the desktop on the internet you have to remove the end in the laptop and put it into the desktop modem.

The blue cable is spare unless you have any extra sockets that will accommodate it in your hughes modem and have both laptop and desktop connected to it.

Where do all the wires go on a router

Blue cable goes from modem to router port next to power connection. Yellow cable is just if your going wired. It would be used to go from one of your router ports to your pc if your pc was close enoug. Don't forget to rate please if this helps.
