Question about Kirby G5 Bagged Upright Vacuum

3 Answers

The Neutral/drive pedal fell off our Kirby G5 vacuum cleaner. I opened up the area housing its connection to the transmission and a couple of the parts were just laying inside. I need a diagram for assembling it and see if I am missing any parts. It was a refurbished machine and a paperclip fell out of the housing when I opened it. Can you help me?

I only need a diagram of the Neutral/Drive Pedal and how it connects to the inner housing pieces where the transmission is located. There were 3 pieces loose in the casing that somehow connect the drive pedal so it cannot fall off.

Michael, I contacted the Kirby people and they will not send me a diagram. Instead they want to replace the entire transmission and I know that it is not necessary. They also want to charge me $125 to replace it. Do you have any other suggestions? All I need is a simple diagram on how to put these 3 pieces of metal together and hold the drive petal in! Thanks, Renee

The drive on my Kirby G-5 is stuck in forward.

Motor housing will need to be removed and transmission a linkage adjusted. Take to a pro shop for this one.

Either the cogged belt broke, or you will have to pull the transmission and see if something came apart. May have to replace the transmission.

I know the lever you're describing, but it's very hard to tell someone how to put it back on. There's nothing wrong with your transmission, by the way, this is a part that's meant to be moveable, and it just happened to slip off in your case. You may call us at 1-866-509-1952, and we can do our best to help you.
