If f9 is not working (you have to press it repeatedly remember) then you don't have a recovery partition and will have a disc instead. Yo use you need to plug in an external optical drive and put your disc in that and set your EEEPC to boot from USB and it will do the rest.
Check the Asus website for more details.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How can i recover my eee pc asus notebook to factory settings

Restart your computer and hit "F2" as the black screen appears. This black screen only appears for a short time, so pay attention closely.

Use the right-arrow key until you see the "Advanced" option.

Select "OS Installation" by scrolling through the options with the down-arrow key on the computer keyboard.

Change the option from "Finished" to "Start" by using the "+" key.

Go to the "Exit" tab by using the right-arrow key. Do this step while making sure that "Exit & Save Changes" is selected as well, then press "Enter," or "OK," to give administrative permission to perform the request.

Press the "F9" key whenever the EeePC starts back up, then select "Restore Factory Settings" from the list of options.

Give confirmation for proceeding with the Factory Restore by clicking "OK" and "Enter." Your EeePC will be taken through the process for installing a fresh image on your machine.

hope this helps

How do i restore my Eee pc to default settings my internet won't work

Hi, First off, make sure you have all your important data backed up to an external drive or SD card and then reboot you EeePC. Please note that any additional software that was installed will also be erased.

1)Turn off the Eee PC. Press the power button or select the shut down option from the computer's main desktop screen.
2)
Turn the unit on and press the "F9" when the flash (logo) screen appears. A menu will appear with a list of options to choose from.3)Select the "Restore Factory Settings" option from the bottom of the list in the menu and type "Yes" when prompted to verify the reset.
4)
Press "Enter" when prompted by the computer to reboot the system. Wait a few seconds for the system to reboot.
5)
when the EeePC reboots it will ask you to enter a username and password just like it did when you took it out of the box, and then boot to the original "easy" desktop.Follow the prompts on screen to accept the licensing agreement and configure your settings. 6)Hope this information is useful to you.. feel free to post your comments.

THANKS FOR USING FIXYA........ BEST WISHES

Press F8 as the computer is booting up and from the list that presents itself select SAFE MODE then select the Administrator account. Hopefully this account does not have a password, most of the time it does not.

The f9 did no work. so i can't get the menu to

I don't think F9 works on XP HD versions, only on linux SD versions. Use the Recovery DVD.

My daughter recently enabled the password that she entered when she set up the EEEPC over a month ago. Unfortunately she doesn't remember what that password was! Now it boots no farther than the enter...

try F2 you didnt say whether it was set in the bios or in the initial configuration pages.
However a F9 whilst booting takes you to restore the factory settings(every other boot) goto restore factory settings--press "E"-- choose restore image--press "B"-- then try to reconfigure the first few pages of the initialising programs, date, time, location etc.

what is password? for windows? for BIOS? for what?....
you use eeePC with Linux OS or Microsoft Windows OS? For Linux, follow my instruction for recovery your OS. Press F9, after you turn ON your netbook. And follow that instruction. Or you can use recovery DVD (include your netbook), after you plug in external DVD-ROM and make it boot priority for first is DVD-ROM (enter your BIOS first).
