Question about Denon AVR-1602 Receiver

1 Answer

I have a denon avr-1602 and moved recently. The audio for the DVD player connected was perfectly fine before, but after making the new connections in the new place can get video, but no audio. I connected as I did before the move with the optical audio cable. I have made reconnections to see if a reconnection would do the trick, but no luck. The Denon indicates "Analog" on the front panel, so I know it is not recognizing the digital optical connection for the DVD player. Thank you for your help.

Hi matthewgk,

It's been a while since I have used my unit and it is not plugged in presently but this may work as I recall having a similar issue a couple of years ago. Try pressing the 'input mode' button on the main unit (or on the remote) to cycle through to AUTO rather than ANALOG. If you still have issues you could try cycling through the DVD remote menu (usually on screen) and selecting the input source type while AUTO is shown on the receiver.

Regards
Matt

I have a Denon AVR 1707 reciever. I am trying to connect my dvd player through RGB cables. The sound works just fine when i turn the reciever to dvd but there is no video. I have the component 2 set to dvd...

The video cables--the green, blue, and red ones must be connected from the video OUT portion of the DVD player to the Component 2 video IN of the Denon. It could be the handshake between your Denon and your television. Do you have anything else to connect to the Denon to see if you get a picture? How are you connecting the Denon to the television? Make sure you have your television on the proper input and check the cables going between it and the Denon.

Noise coming out of speakers connected to Denon AVR 1908

Check for nearby wireless devices and move them away. -If the audio output from the source device (i.e. DVD, CD player) is digital (i.e. PCM, DTS or Dolby Digital) you're on your own. I'd be willing to bet the output is analog (red and white RCA), because the "beeps" and "exploding sounds" you describe seem like it could be caused by interference. Try replacing the cables. Otherwise the issue is probably with your receiver.

Denon Receiver AVR 1602 not playing Dolby Digital w/ Samsung BD

Dolby signals are passed via either an RF cable or optical link. Both the receiver and player need to have these switched on and that they are passing the correct signals. You clearly found the correct setting for the TV sound link. Now you just have to find the one for the DVD player.

Connecting two mulitchannel devices into one receiver

I guess you could try y cable adapters for input on the Denon. Might get messy. Try radio shack and pick up 5 y cables for the speakers and 1 for the sub. Someone probably makes an audio switcher that handles that as well.

Play phono - vinyl records

You need to purchase a phono preamp (about $20) and then the output of the preamp can be connected to any line level input on the receiver (tape, CD, DVD etc.)

Problem when switching on Denon AVR 2803

The sound you describe is usually a mechanical noise from the transformer/case work. Home theater amps tend to have quite large transformer in what is, due mainly to its size, a rattly cabinet.

Over time, the lamination inside the transformer can loosen which could explain why it has only just started doing.

Alternatively, one assumes you moved the amp when connecting the new kit? This may have let the case work rest in a new way which is proving susceptible to relaying the vibration caused by the transformer as an audible noise on switch on.

Best Way ti connect a Denon AVR-1602 Surround Sound system with a Bell Express View Satlite reciever and Plasma TV

lets see, 3100 has no digital out, so you need analog inputs for the audio. Best picture with the 3100, use S-video. Digital input for the DVD sound and S-video in for picture. OOPS....does your TV have a S-Video input ?. If not then you have to use the RCA standard video type connector, as this particular denon doesnt do up or down conversion to or from S-video to old style RCA.

Sorry for the late response.....Rob

PS.....the HD bell wont do you any good with this receiver nbecause it doesnt have component video inputs. Enjoy Bells' superior picture with regular TV . Its way better than cable. Rob
