Networking an xbox 360 to my p.c (by 2 users)

posted by ibzmate on May 17, 2008

ok a basic description. my xbox360 is connected to a netgear router, which is connected to the internet and to my pc. and i had a admin friend of mine connect it all up and configure it all out and it was all running nicely, i could watch video's play music, look at my pictures on the xbox while the pictures, videos, and music was on my pc. but for some reason i cannot do that anymore. i tryed to fix the problem for the last 2 days. i test the connection, and it passes connection to the router, it passes the i.p adres verification but it cannot find my computer and it fails. can someone please help me?!

i had already checked the media player to see if it was enabled, and sure enough it was, i looked to see if it was my router that might be the cause and it wasn't and two days ago it just kind of started working fine again... i really would have loved to know what caused the stuff up in the first place, but i suppose thats technology for ya. no matter how much you think its good in terms of advancement it still is fragile enough to break down because of one or two probably very simple things. thanks for the help guys

I have a similiar problem. I have a 2wire wireless router from at&t, and I'm trying to connect to my computer. it recognizes all my music movies and photos, but it can't seem to play or show them. I tried opening the router through internet explorer and opened all the ports (i think), but it still doesn't work. it's like they see each other, and see all the content, but i get them to play together! I also have a directv box that has the same issue which leads me to beleive that it is the router and some type of firewall somewhere? Can somebody who is knowledgeable in this area help me??!?!?!?!?!? THANK YOU!

Turn on the 360 and on your computer, open up Media Player and check that the sharing is enabled and your 360 is allowed in the permissions.
