Well the processing software for the system is bad and it needs new software then.
To install new software you need to take out the old motherboard and install a new one. Thats
what im going to do for my 14 yearold N64 system good as new like it was 14 years ago.

My N64 console keeps on resetting its self at the intro of the games. If there was an error in the system what would it say then?

Well if the red light is flickering then that means that you either have a bad capacitor in the console or the ac adapter might have a bad capacitor or its over heating but if the light is not flashing then it means that the software is going bad on you. SO an N64's internal parts are similar to a computers parts but a simple software then and computers have an adavnace software advance means i can do more things so when an advance system resets it can fix its self. So a simple software will just keep on reseting and never get past the reset stage. So if there is an error in the console it should show you on the screen before it resets but sometimes i doesnt.

Well I think that you need a blue plug for it to work instead of
the tradditional N64 av cables.

My n64 keeps on restarting while I'm playing a game. What should I do?

Well you know on how computers will sometimes reset them selves when they have an error in the sytem so you see that an N64 console internal parts are similar to a computers pieces but it has a much more simpler software so when the resetiing goes on it saya its going to fix its self but i can't fix its self so this will keep on redoing all over again annyoing. Does it show and error on the tv screen too? So to fix it you need to install a new mother board for the system then.

My N64 console resets its self after 5 minutes then how do you fix that problem and how can an N64 console get an error with the software then? Is there some virus that gets in there some how then?

  • There are a couple things that could be going on.
  • You could have a bad capacitor in the main unit.
  • You may have a bad capacitor in the AC adapter. I might try this first. A game room might have one for $5usd or so. This is actually the biggest offender of the N64 flickering and powering off and on for no reason.
  • Make sure the unit is clean and not overheating too. keep it off the floor and well ventilated.
  • If there was an error it would show you on the screen.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for choosing FixYa.

tony

When i turn on my N64 it plays for a while then automatically resets

Well its because the system is going bad and yous hould buy a new one then its cheaper to buy a new one than to fix the old onWell you know on how computers will re set them selves when they have an error in the software
so put it this way a N64 internal parts are like a computers pieces but a simple software so when it resets its self it acts like its going to repair its self but this is inpossible so it will just keep on redoing then. error in the software then.

Im triyng to hookup my n64 and its not playing on the screen? what do i do

Switch through the inputs to find the one that matches where you plugged in the AV cables of the N64. Try resetting your N64 or put in a different game. If that doesn't work, try to plug in the N64 into a different television.

My console wont work and when it did it had an error sign. Something about needing a pak. What do I need and how do I get one?

your looking for the "expansion pack" its needed to play the games on the n64, it is located on top of the n64 towards he front of the console. that little door/flap between the power and reset button. get one online for cheap. like ebay or something. keep in mind there are 2 different kind of expansion packs on is black. it is the standard one. one is red on top, that one is better and will play all n64 games like donkey kong 64 and zelda ocarina of time

System keeps resetting after i start playing a game

Well the system sofware is going bad then. Well an N64's internal parts are simlair to a computers parts but when it resets it acts like i am going to fix it then but since it can not fix its self by resetting it will just keep on redoing non stop then. So my best bet would be to buy a new N64 console or have someone fix the old one for you then.

Its fuzzy at the start and then resets over and over again

even though the adapters allow you to physically plug in the N64, the voltages/amps might be different. try to use a voltage converter, and please, don't let your N64 fry.

N64 and NES reset randomly

Well you know on how computers will redo them selves when they have an error in their software and programming so you see that an n64 consoles parts are similar to a computers piece but a simpler software so when it does the resetting it says im going to fix it but since that its impossible fro it to fix its self it will just only keep reseting over and over again then.
