The DC jack, where you plug the power adapter cable, might be loose or defective, & needs to be either re-soldered or replaced.
In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard taken out. Also, the motherboard needs to be checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.

How Do I Access Door Catch Inside Machine Body

Hi Steve

Having taken off the top and runners you will need to take off the front control panel then the main front of the machine.
There are two screws on the top, two on the bottom and four on the front (one may be hidden behind the appliance sticker.
There then should be enough room to access the couping without removing the door.
Give it a play first as it probably will just need resetting and you will save yourself a tenner on a new part.
Good luck
Cheers

BMW 650 Tail Light Problem

If you find that your BMW 650 CS/GS/Dakar tail light doesn’t work at all or flickers when riding, chances are the metal power terminals inside the bulb socket are no longer making a good connection with the metal bumps on the tail light bulb. This is a very common problem with the BMW 650 of all makes, models, and years. Fortunately, there is a very easy fix.
Due to excessive vibration, temperature changes, and replacing light bulbs, the two metal power terminal tabs inside the tail light socket deform and get pushed too far back inside the tail light chassis. This prevents the tail light bulb from making good contact with the power terminals and the smallest vibrations can cause the electric connection to break temporarily or indefinitely.

To fix the problem, all you need to do is pry the two metal power tabs forward just a little so that they make a better connection with the metal bumps on the tail light bulb. If you look at the back of the bike, the red tail light casing on the 650 CS/GS/Dakar is held in place with two screws. If you remove these screws the red tail light casing comes off and you have access to the light bulb inside. At this point, turn the ignition on, but you don’t need to start the bike. Remove the light bulb by pushing in and twisting clockwise about 1/8 turn. If the bulb flickered while removing it, then the bent power terminals are most likely the cause.
Looking at the tail light bulb you should see two metal bumps. These bumps need to make a good connection with the two metal power terminals inside the tail light casing. Turn the ignition off and find a small tool that you can use to pry the power terminals forward just a bit. Make sure the bike is off and you don’t want the power terminals tabs inside the tail light casing to touch.
After you have made the adjustment, turn the ignition back to “on” and re-insert the taillight bulb. If the bulb is lit, then you are done. If it still flickers a bit and doesn’t stay lit, then you will need to continue prying the tabs forward until a good connection is made.

Known weak points & tips for the Antec P18x series

The Antec P180, P182 and P183 are great quality cases, but they have some minor issues, which are either easily fixed or covered by the great Antec warranty. Below are some pointers and tips:

- The plastic pins of the side-plastic on the front-door are a little weak and can break, leaving the door "hanging" when opened. To fix this, remove the door from the case and carefully screw a tiny screw in place to "replace" the broken plastic pin (at the exact location the plastic pin was originally). Do it from the inside out, until the screw is like 3 or 4mm outside the panel and then put the door back in. You might want to make the screw-top a little blunt first too.

- The (plastic) L-hooks on the side-panels are also known the break, so be very careful when taking the panel of or setting it back. There's no easy fix for a broken hook, but luckily a broken hook hardly effects the fit.

- A good airflow is essential to efficient cooling of the computer components. The best setup in this case is to use 2 intake fans at the front (1 directly behind the airfilter at the front and 1 in the bottom compartment in front of the power supply) and 2 exhaust fans at the back and top. This will result in fresh, cold air sucked into the case at the front and the warm air pushed outside the case at the back. There are no special 'intake' or 'exhaust' fans, it's just down to how you fit the fans. Most fans have an arrow on 1 of their sides indicating the direction of the airflow.

- As with any computer case, you still need to "clean" the inside of the case every X months, since dust will always get in, with or without any filter. When there's too much dust inside the case it will hinder airflow, causing the temperature to rise, which causes fans to blow harder and make more noise. In the end it could jam/clutter soo much that your computer becomes "instable" or slow due too overheating. Don't use a vacuum-cleaner (due to static electricity which can damage the PC electronics), but just blow it out or use some canned-air or dry toiletpaper. Mind your eyes though !

The left headphone keeps cutting out and i have to push it and usually hold to keep it from cutting out. I know that it is the ipod and not the headphones because it is the same with every set and they...

wear and tear , most ipods over time end up with this problem specially if you use it a lot , and are very active . the headphone jack inside gets damaged , usually bent so that it does not make a good connection . if you don't want to spend the money to get it fixed , here is a easy fix that's fairly cheap .
first link is ipod docking connector with male headphone out , and the next link is female to female coupler so that you can still use your headphones .

Acer aspire 9410 is 199.00 to much to pay acer to fix ac power connection?

Yes unles you feel it is too big a job totackle yourself. the average price for this type of repair is $150. usually it is just a wire that broke off the female connector in the power jack. "female end." You can fix it yourself if you feel confident enough to take the unit apart and solder the wire back on. It is the most common repair on laptops. I would purchase a new part in case it is broken beyond just the wire coming off, it should cost you 10 -20 dollars on a local computer parts store or on ebay.

My toshiba power jack is not in it's place. i need a disasembley guide and tips on how to move it back to the correct position.

The power jack probably got bumped (HARD) and the holder inside the case is broken. This is a common problem and can be solved if you are handy. Otherwise it is a depot repair situation. Be careful, as if you try to apply power with the connector broken loose it can cause a short which damages your power supply or the motherboard inside!

If the jack is broken (not the case) you can get the original part here:

http://www.notebooksolutions.ca/zc/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3233

Be cautioned,t it is no easy feat to open the case (over a dozen screws) and removing other components to access the inside. Best left to a qualified technician if you are unsure.

The ac power jack has a short. In order to make a positive connection you have to manipulate the male jack in the female receptor. How can I open the computer to see if it's an easy fix or needs more...

If you have to ask about how to "open" a notebook, you need to STOP, and take it to a qualified technician, before you do any significant damage. Inside a notebook, there are no "easy" fixes; it's no place for a "novice".

take a 1-1/2" safety pin, straighten it a bit, heat the tip, stick it inside the broken pin, let it cool then work it out w/the broken pin attached. I had the same problem & this worked.

1997 ford explorer rear driver side door won't open

Pull the panel off starting at the top, you can just pry the window control apart, you don't need to unscrew that part. I sprayed white grease (lubriplate) all around the door latch inside there, and it unlatched easy.
After I put it back together, the knob still doesn't rise as high as the other side. I think the linkage is binding, and the connecting rod is bent. At least if the door won't unlock with the button you can do it by hand.
