Question about Nintendo Wii Console

Game picture on tv is too big-can't see score box

Hi! The top and bottom of the game screen cannot be quite seen because the picture is "zoomed" a bit too large.  Don't know how this happened or how to fix the problem.  Wii worked fine up to now.  Any solutions?

Thank you for responding!  Kids got to the remote and got "button crazy."  Like you said, it was a setting on my TV remote, set to "zoom."  Thanks for the great advice!

My Wii is connected to a widescreen tv. All the settings are correct according to the manual, but the top and bottom of the picture is off the screen. The sides are ok. Just the top and bottom don't...

Hi.

This is probably seting on the TV that needs to be adjusted. Go into the picture settings on the TV and change the viewing settings to a setting that you're comfortable with. For example change the settings from 16.9 to 4.3 or change zoom.

You will no doubt find the correct setting in the TV's picture menu.

Bottom right hand corner of screen un-responsive

Yes you can. All you need is a touchscreen, not an actual LCD screen, the touchscreen sits on top of the LCD. You can purchase them for about £4 on ebay and they are relatively easy to fit. Have a look on the internet for a guide to replacing the touchscreen, there are lots out there. They do have quite a fiddly connector though so if you have big fingers you might want to get some tweezers ready :)

Hope this helps

Top screen not as bright as bottom screen

Hi,

You can't change the brightness of the top screen but you can change the brightness of the bottom screen to match/ suit your needs.

Whilst the DS lite is off tke out any games that may be in it, Turn the unit on and touch the screen to take you to the main menu screen. at the bottom left of the menu screen you will see a little sun picture... tap that to change the brightness of the bottom screen, there are 4 stages of brightness to choose from.

Hope this hels, any further questions please feel free to contct me via my profile page.

My nintedo DS Lite has a big black line across the bottom of the screen and it apears on whatever game i am playing and it apears on the main screen too. Is there a way to fix this?

Sounds like you have a bad LCD. This can be replaced but takes quite a bit of work. You should consider sending it to Nintendo or selling it broken and getting a new one or good used one. If you decide you want to try and fix it, you can find the parts on ebay or other sites on the net along with instructions on how to replace the LCD

Big black box while trying to play movies

Hello there, sorry to hear about your issue. Usually this indicates that someone has hit the CLOSED CAPTION button or possibly the PIP (picture in picture) button on the TV remote. There is nothing wrong with the xbox, it is actually a setting on your TV. Check the remote to see how you can disable closed captions.

No visual picture

If it's a setting on the PS3 then just hook it up to another T.V. set it back to default and hook it back up to your other T.V.

Turns on and lights up but no images on top screen

The DS top screen has two components, which are the LCD display, and the backlight. If the LCD display has gone bad but the backlight still works and the connecter is seated properly, the DS will still power on and the lower screen will be normal, and the top screen will light, but it won’t display anything.

You didn’t mention if your DS is the original DS or the DS Lite. Replacement top screens for the DS Lite are cheap on eBay, but installing the screen is a bit complex. The screen for the original DS is a different part and they are more expensive and hard to find.

I’ve never worked on an original DS, so I can only tell you about installing the top screen on a DS Lite.

First, the DS Lite has to be just about completely disassembled. You have to completely remove the top and bottom cases, pull out the microphone and wi-fi cables, and release the connecter for the top screen, which is located on the main board in the lower case. You’ll need the tri-wing screwdriver. You can leave the bottom screen/touch screen assembly attached to the main board, but be careful not to pull or tear the flex cables. Check YouTube for videos on disassembling the DS Lite.

Here’s the deal breaker for most people: The speakers are soldered to the flex cable of the top screen. I’ve never seen a replacement sold with speakers. You’ll have to unsolder your speaker wires from the old screen cable and reconnect them to the new one. If you can’t solder, you could take the screens to a local tv/electronics repair shop and pay to have it done. I got this information for you from http://wiinewz.com/forums/nds-general-discussion/72805-ds-top-screen-white-blank.html this appears to be a common problem I hope this helps

Cannot write/draw on bottom screen

There is a touch screen which is on top of the LCD screen. You can indeed buy a replacement touch screen, quite cheaply too. Check eBay.
