In my case I just hit the reset button. The reset button on this model is on the front plate, just above the headphone jack. I used a paperclip to push in while the radio was on and it worked immediately! The word "protect" disappeared, then I just had to push the power button to turn it on.

I am installing kenwood kdc-mp443u. it is flashing protect and i can't remove it. can you help please?

A speaker wire has a short-circuit, crossed, or touches the chassis of the vehicle it activates the protection mode function.
? Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. If the "PROTECT" code does not disappear, consult your nearest service center.
I have attached a link for you which is for a free Kenwood KDC-MP443U instruction manual download. Nice receiver by the way!

Kenwood kdc-mp442u protect mode came

First of all , your Kenwood shows only Protect on the display when your speakerwires are conflicting with each other , but when you cannot find the problem there....

disconnect them one by one to see wich speaker in your car is conflicting (shortcuts).

Replace that speaker and your kenwood will work just fine.

I had the same problem here with a brand new Clarion speaker .

"kdc-mp442u reset button???? face plate? not there?help

It's usually behind the face plate. Take off the face plate there should be a reset button, you will need a small pin to reset it. I also included a link to the manual for more help if needed.

Kenwood KDC-MP732 CD Player in protect mode how do i get it off had a blown speaker fixed it and still in protect mode

Protect Mode (Blink): The speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle, and then the protection function is activated.

Solution: Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button.

Here is a copy of the Instruction Manual for the Kenwood KDC-X790 and KDC-MP732.

I have a Kenwood KDC-MP442U Deck and protect will not come off

check speakers for a short protect means one of the speakers are shorting so check all the connections on speakers or if you have a multimeter put the black to ground and put it on contanuity and check from the plug at the unit and it will beep if one is shorting then you know which one to check instead of pulling your whole car apart:)

I have a KDC-MP442U and i need to shut off the demo mode how do i do it?

Press and hold your search button for about a second.
Now in function mode, turn your (AUD) round knob until "Demo Mode" is displayed.
Then press and hold the (AUD) knob for a couple of seconds, this will allow you to cut it ON or Off.

See page 19 in your manual. -Good Listening
