Thanks but I already tried cleaning it. It was a new player. I just returned it and of course it was a defective unit. It was replaced with a new one.

A no disc response says that there is no data readd on from the disc that was put into.
This can happen If:
1. the head is dirty;; if so clean the lens eye with a ear bud softly.
2. make sure the disc is trying to run and the laser unit trying to read: if so the OPTICAL HEAD UNIT ASSEMBLY is faulty.
3. In some case certain Cd's might read but still the head wont read all.
4. replacement should be done with care, removal of the short in the new head ( static protection) and fixed

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems that the lens is unable to read discs. To start with try running a lens cleaning disc, if that does not work then you have to open the unit and clean the lens with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol. If still the issue is not resolved then the lens should be replaced however, replacing a lens will cost you around $75 and a new one will cost you around $50. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

If you have already tried cleaning it and also you have replaced the old one with a new one then the issue seems to be with its manufacturing and it better to replace it with another model and let them know about this issue.

HP60 that reads discs as "blank"

does it do this with all discs or just discs that have been burned? if it's just cd's that have been burned it could be that the writing session wasn't closed properly, if it's all discs then it could be a drive setting. more than likely though, the tech swapped the drive out completely which is why he said 'not to worry about it'

Has this happened with more than one disc? Sounds like you may have gotten a bad disc, happens sometimes, especially with cheaper brands. I try to stick to Verbatim for my blanks. I would finalize the disc before trying to repair anything, that way the filesystem is complete. Sometimes a camera will not be able to read the disc but the more stable laser and environement of a computer will. If it starts to happen a lot even with high quality media then there might be something wrong with the camera, clean the lense carefully and see if there may be a new firmware on the net for it. Hope this helps.

When I input a disc and hit play I receive an error which says "TOC ERRORa".

Possible that the disc is not reading and so the the TOC- table of content error must be referred.
It can be due to a poor head tracking or the failure of the data being read or processed.
Clean the head and use a good disc to be checked once again. If so the optical head can be faulty as it might be getting weaker.

I bought a Ntsc/UC designation compatible game and have a Ntsc/UC designation compatable ps2 but it won't read it

It might be a defect with the disc or the console. If the console plays other games correctly, then it's a problem with the disc. While there is still a warranty on the disc, return it to the store and get another. It happened to me once.

After burning the DVD once,

Several possible solutions.

1. If you are using DVD-R discs, your player probably does not support them. There are known compatibility issues with DVD-R discs. If your burner supports it, use DVD+R discs.
2. Try burning at the slowest possible speed. That can help your player pick up the disc better.
3. Did you remember to put a menu in the beginning of your movie? Even if you have the disc set to skip the menu when inserted, it still must exist for some DVD players to recognize it as a disc and play it.

Clutch wont release

I can think of two possibles, the input shaft is bound in the pilot bushing,or,and this happened with my 93 Jetta,a spring may have fallen out of the friction disc and lodged between the flywheel and friction disc.Hope this helps.

Hard Drive Problem

This has happened to me once. I unplugged it overnight and plugged is back in and everything (Except for the for the DVD that was being written when it malfunctioned) Worked fine. I suspect that a Capacitor is going bad but it’s still working (for 4 months) and I will put off any real trouble shooting until it fails hard.

Excel formula

the formulae for the surface area of round disc is
pi * r * r
where pi=3.14 and r =radious of disc= diametre/2

for this 1st u have 2 calculate the radious of the disc that is
180/2=90mm
then convert it to  m by dividing 1000 ,so radious=90/1000=0.09 m
finally calculate the area= 3.14 * 0.09 * 0.09=0.025434 sq metres
for 38 disc multiply 38 with the above area that is
0.025434 * 38=0.966492 sq metres

in excel 2007  u can do it more easily by going 2 formulas tab.
Under formla tab click on engineering formula and  then convert
here u can convert from mm to m
after converting use the above formula i just told u.
