Since FixYa managed once again to lose the message I posted, here it is again:

Check in the inside rear of the refrigerator cabinet for vents. When you hear the compressor running, wet your fingers and hold them in front of the vent to check for air flow.
If it seems there is none, then the fan that is supposed to distribute the cold air from the freezer is no longer running.

If this is true, go to the Sears parts department and enter make and model number to see if they have a line drawing illustration of your unit.
This will allow you to see if this fan is accessible enough for you to DIY or if you need a pro.

    Good luck-

My freezer is not getting ice

If the freezer is not cold enough you may have a compressor problem. First totally defrost the fridge. then plug the fridge back in and check that the fan in the bottom that cools the compressor is working. the cold control can fail so turn the cold control to the highest setting and note if the compressor stops running before the freezer starts making ice. If the fridge just runs and runs and does not get cold enough to make ice you have a somewhat serious problem. the compressor can be replaced but it is expensive and you might be better off to get a different unit (new or used) that will work correctly. Most used appliance stores will have something that will work well and won't cost that much.

So my split fridge and freezer broke. the freezer works fine but the fridge doesnt get cold enough, even if i turn the knob to 7 (the highest).

first clean and remove dust and debris from under unit and make sure fan is working properly--next check the fan in freezer section for icing ,damage ,blockage ,or failure repair or replace as necessary the fan supplies the fridge with cold air from freezer

Freezer is cold but not keeping icecream frozen.

If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.

The lowest setting in the freezer compartment may be set to cold holding back cooling to the refrigerator. Try your settings at mid-point on both refrigerator and freezer settings.
