Power button could be bad. you could try disconnecting the power switch from the motherboard, then manually shorting the motherboard power leads using a screwdriver or something. just short them for a brief moment, and the computer should start up.

Monitor won't switch on properly.

This is a common symptom of failing filter capacitors in the power supply board. Over time as the capacitors start to fail they are not able to buildup and hold a charge like they should. The worse they get the longer the start time will be until one day the unit will not start up at all. The repair is easy to do, it just requires replacing the 5 bad capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link to a parts kit that shows what needs to be replaced on the board.

I was putting in a new car stereo and when I went to start my car it wouldn't start. I got a jump start from a friend and that did nothing as well. I did hear a little zap when I put in the stereo...

check it out with a multimeter ,but i think your jump leads may not be any good and you have just flattened the battery ,but check the big fuses in the power distribution box under the bonnet

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

If it's new it's probably doing some housekeeping. The drives need to be formatted and then the RAID arrays need to be sorted.

On installing my server, it took days to complete, however, that was with existing data on the drive.

It might not be letting you switch off because it's busy and doing so would mess up what it's trying to perform.

If you don't want to wait to find out if all is OK, go into the configuratio utility and set just one drive up. This will show if it's working as a unit. If all is fine, install the remaining drives, maybe one at a time.
