Question about Hitachi 60V710 60" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

I turned the tv off the night before and it seemed to shut down normally. The next morning it will not power on with the remote or front switch. No lights .. nothing. I tried unplugging for a couple hours and disconnected all cables. I also followed the "loss of power" instructions in the book. I thought maybe it needed to reset. Still nothing. The light engine was replaced two years ago.

The television will not turn on! There are no lights. When I turned it off the night before, it turned off normally. It had no power the next morning.

The light engine has been changed about two years ago along with the bulb. I took the bulb out and it is good. Is there a fuse or something that may have blown inside?

Hi,

Has you ever change the bulb?

Is the flashing lights in the set pattern?

If your answer to the first is NO and the second is ' No specific sequence ' - more often you need to replace lamp.

Don't ever handle the glass part of the bulb with your bare hands and consult your manual if you have any doubts, vacuum out any stray dust while you are in there and never remove the back of the unit while the set is plugged into the wall.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Oops!!

I never read that there is ' No lights ' as well. I am sorry, this is a different issue altogether. There are several things that can cause this.

The most common is the regulation circuit in the power supply, many times this will fail and stop the TV from coming on just as your is. This repair normally runs around $400.

However this could also be caused by the horizontal circuit, deflection board, main board, micro, and high voltage circuit to name a few. The average repair price for any of these is $400-$700 depending on exactly what is found.

However to determine exactly what the problem is will require troubleshooting. Some knowledge of electronics and a multimeter will be needed for this. If you have this knowledge/tools I will be more than happy to walk you through the troubleshooting of this set and determine what is wrong. Also most repairs will require good soldering skills so you will need these as well for us to repair the TV after diagnosis. If you don't have any of this then a repairman would be your next step.

I am sorry to bring you the bad news on this one, you definitely have an internal failure in the set that it putting it into shut down.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

This is an internal failure. This is not a blown fuse or switch. You need to open the TV to get it repaired. If you have electronics repair experience, would be able to read schematics and would be able to keep precautions, revert and i would tell you where you could get a service manual and would guide you the same.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

Great. As you have the service manual, you could open the TV and check the power supply board. Make sure that there are no swelled / bulged / leaked caps. Once done, check the voltage across various points and let me know the result.

Let me know,so that we could proceed.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Red light goes on and off

Needs the button put back into place. Look under the cabinet to see if there is an access panel below the switch, would go for all external controls. There would be a chassis with all the controls mounted to it.
Pull the plug before doing any repairs.
Look to see what it would look like in it's normal position. Something has moved out of place that holds the switch to the panel. Very tedious if you have to remove the whole housing.

I shut my computer down at night, but can't get on Internet next

There is no reason to shut down either the router or modem. My router and modem has power 24/7 with no issues for many years. Just leave them powered.

Hello,

First use the following steps:

Turn off the system and disconnect power cables.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds
Reconnect power cables and try to turn it on.

If it remains same, the next step will be to turn off the system,
Disconnect power cables
Open the case and re-seat memory modules.

If you have more than one modules installed, test the system with a single module at a time.

Thanks

I have a Toshiba TV model 36A43 that won't power on. The same thing happened yeaterday as this morning. The tv will not power on via remote, or the manual power button. Yesterday, the same thing occurred...

It sounds like you have a switch problem at the front panel of the set. If a switch gets stuck internally the micro is trying to process the command and won't respond to any other commands. The only way to find out is to go into the set and desolder all the manual switches and see if the remote will work the set. It has a seperate detector for the remote. Thanks for using fixya. Good luck

Just replaced the lamp after 2 years. TV worked

Make sure that the lamp cage is seating well .. then make sure the door is closed properly. there is a door switch and if the door dont close right the switch may be telling the set the lamp is out.

Ws65909 powers off about 3 sec after power on

a code will always read 12-normal if you just plugged the tv in. it has to try to turn on then shut itself down to log a code. Or shutdown is caused by something the tv cannot detect . Or a front panel button has failed- does the green light turn on for a second when you hit the power button on the remote? if not try unplugging the front keypad behind the speaker cover.

No picture, sound and/or stanby indicator light...dead!

Loss of low voltage supply has happened. This regulates the ability of the set to sense the remote as well as the front panel switches. Could be anything from open T1 secondary to a regulation problem; i.e. excess drop from defective component....accordianman
