Where can I send the Brother typewriter for repair?

I don't know where you are, we are in Cleveland Oh. Unless you are hopeless in love with this T/W I suggest you go on Ebay and find a replacement. The shipping packaging and repair providing whatever parts needed are available is may be to much.

My picture is all scrunched up in the middle of the screen, black on the top and bottom, otherwise the width of the screen is fine! Is this a picture tube going bad or just an adjustment?

There's trouble in the set's vertical output circuit. Often this is because of bad solder connection, but there could be parts that need to be replaced as well. It isn't the picture tube going bad, though, so the set could be fixed. (Actually, even a bad picture tube can be replaced, but when the tube goes it's cheaper to buy a new TV!) Often just resoldering the connections in the affected area brings the picture back to full height. It's not unusual for capacitors in that area to wear out with age, but they're inexpensive parts.

The trouble with TV repairs is the labor cost. If you don't know anyone who has the skills to check over a circuit board and do electronic soldering, and to check and replace parts, you'll need to have a professional do it. The total cost of repairing a small TV might make it worth spending a little more on a new flat-screen LCD. They've really come down in price.

Most shops charge a fee (applied to the repair if you go ahead) to check the set and give a repair estimate. If you don't mind the gamble, get the set checked. Otherwise, start looking for a good sale on something new.

I was advised to use a paper clip to open the optical disc drive of my Compaq Presario F767NR Notebook. The drive manually opened but won't open still on its own.

There are gears, levers and band (elastic rubber band) to regulate the close and open function of the Drive, if it doesn't eject or close properly, then one of the parts I've mentioned might have been damaged or loosen or needs to be replaced. To replace it, you'll need to know which one is causing the problem and you'll need to purchase the specific required part. It's not recommend to do it yourself, but to get it done from a Service Center or from a Local computer repair shop. If your Compaq is still under warranty, this will be the right time to use it. On the other hand, if repair shops or service center ask you to pay for eg. as much as $100, don't ever repair it, instead get a new one. You can get a new good quality Optical Drive for less than $100. But if you can just use it and you don't need the drive to open/close very often, I would recommend you to use it as it is to save money until you are ready (if in case it no longer under warranty).
Hope this helps.
Let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Gear shift cable end broke is there a repair kit and how do you install it

Not sure what exact vehicle you have but no there is no repair kit but yes there are replacement parts. Those type of part are generally only available from a dealer. Don't know what vehicle you have so I can't tell you how to replace it.

The car loses power at a certain point while driving. Had the spark plugs and wires replaced along with the dist cap. Engine light blinks then car loses power runs like a lawnmower. The engine light...

What your saying is someone put the problem
in your vehicle
Take it back

You never replace parts in the hope of solving
any issues
You diagnose all check light issues first,
find cause of the system that set the light and repair
Then continue with any other drivability issues

In most of these cases, a repair shop doesn't
know why your there
Partly your fault and partly theirs
So you get plugs you may need and wires that never
fail, and you still have the same problem

You don't want to be there or trust them, they don't
want to discuss much, which is a long standing
half century of poor business practices.

What I'am saying, is they have to diagnose the initial
drivability issue, that customer has,not throw parts at it

You still have a check light on
In my world it is inconceivable you could
leave a repair shop in that condition

Samsung sp42w5h ghosting

The convergence ICs are usually the problem there are two of them STK392-040 which need to be replaced and possibly the 4 150 ohm 1watt and a couple of the 3.9 ohm 2 watt resistors this is a fairly easy repair if you can solder. You can get replacement parts at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself.
here's the link.
