How do I do this? I have an ohm meter, but don't know how to test for power at the inlet valve

  • rdrmarcus Sep 17, 2010

Get to the terminals on your water valve and figure out which side is hot water. Then disconnect the wiring connecter, attach your leads to this connecter and set the machine to fill with hot water. You should have 120 vac between these two terminals. If you have 120 volts then either your valve is bad or your water pressure is too low. If you do not have power then we need to figure out why.

Hi. When I was looking at the Temp Board, I noticed that the wiring connector that attaches to the timer was not totally plugged in securely.
I took it off, then plugged it in correctly "Fully" and tried the washer
    The water began to flow
Thanks for taking time to help me
    God bless you

Check the water flow coming out of your water valves on the wall. Once in awhile a faucet washer comes loose in the valve causing "flutter". Check the flow through the hoses before they get to the washer.

I am having difficulties replacing the water valve on my maytag top load washer, model mav208daww. How do I get to it?

Hi.

Disconnect power cord or trip circuit breaker. Unplug the water hoses after turning off the water supply. Using a screwdriver, release and lift up the washer top panel. Using needle nose pliers, disconnect the wires from the old valve, and undo the hose that feeds water into the tub. From the back of the washer, I undo the screw holding the valve in place. Remove the old valve. Connect electrical wires and hose to the new inlet valve before installing the valve. Screw the valve back in place and reattach the hot and cold water hoses, close the top of the washer, turn on the water supply, and connect power back.

Below a diagram. The valve is part 14. Click on the picture to enlarge.

Water not entering washer

Hi

If the washer won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the pressure/water level switch assembly. Inspect the inlet hose coming to the washer for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the pressure/water level switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Unplug the washer, if the issue continues, you have a faulty inlet water valve. What happens is particulate matter gets in and the valve jambs. If you have a new unit, the repair should be for free.

The only case where I could see water going in, is if it was requested, by user input....But front loaders use tons less water......

My washer gives an nF code. I have disconnected the hoses and cleaned the screens and hoses. Still get error. I believe it is clogged where the hose enters the washer at the inlet valves. How do I remove...

Hello,The "nf" code is a "no-fill" fault. This indicates that your washing is not getting water supplied to it, or the pressure isn't substantial enough to complete a fill. You need to, first, make sure the water supply is turned on. Second, if the water IS turned on, and you're still not getting anything to your washer, you may have a fill valve problem. The fill valve is what both your hoses connect to on the back of the machine. It can become clogged with sediment over time (especially, if you have hard water or well water). Turn the water supply off and remove both hoses from the back of the washer. Check both these hose connections for clogs in the filter screens. If they are clear, then more than likely the fill valve has gone bad.
Thanks
