Question about Vacuums

Hoover F5809 Hello, I seen a few of your post and was hoping you could help me. I just became a member today. My sister gave me her old Hoover Steam Vac-Model F5809. This thing is so dirty and clogged because my sister has pets. So far I've gotten it all taken apart to clean it. I'm not a newbie and taking apart and fixing things. I have fixed things like microwaves, washers, dryers, dishwashers (still learning about TV's-very hard, hehe). Anyway, I got what I believe to be the motor cover off. I unhooked all the wires (yep I remember where they go, daughter was worried about that, hehe). I tried bringing up the diagram picture you posted for a person for this model but it's bringing up and advertisement. I tried saving the diagram and then zooming in but everything is blurry. Here is my problem. I have the motor out. I need to know if this one part is detachable so I can clean it but I'm not sure how to tell you what part it is unless I have the diagram. I will do my best and if you could let me know if there is a way this part comes off then that would be great. It's the motor with the white block type part on the top, it has two long screws on the side, redish wires wound up in the middle of it, on the bottom of this is a metal cover with tear drop like holes that are going side to side. Under this cover is something that spins with a nut a bolt. Does the cover metal cover with the holes come off? It is so clogged with hard pet hair, that it needs cleaned but I can't get it off? Please if u could give me any information then that would b greatly appreciated. I've tried the Hoover website and it says it can't find that model. Probably too old. Thanks so much. Misty

That cover is the called the fan cover and is usually pressed on. Tapping on the edge with a flat blade, you may be able to get it off and hope you don't bend it up, you will to put it back on tight enough so it will stay in place. Another thing to take apart and clean is the turbine, this is what will turn the brush block. Learning TV repair isn't easy, I used to do that for about 30 years along with microwave and other electronics.

Need instructions how to use Hoover Steam Vac Spin Scrub. I borrowed it from my Sister and she left it with no instruction book or letting me know how to operate it. I put water & cleaner in top tank....

I did have a solution in just a few minutes. Someone responded with a solution that gave me the website where I could go and print the manual in pdf, so did that, and checking instructions I was able to clean my carpets and get the shampooer back to my sister later the same day. I really appreciated your site and help I got for my problem. I found it on google. Thanks again!

Hoover steam cleaner wont pickup water

in the front on top the cover that curves down to the floor is where the suction is .it should be plastic you can see into.its probably clogged with hair and dirt.you need tro take that top off and it comes apart in two sections .the middle seperates from the outer part.once apart you can clean it with soap and water.after you get that off you will see on your left side a long square port that needs to be cleaned also.please leave feedback.i hope i was of some help to.pete

We purchased a Hoover Steam/Vac (F5915-900) cleaner. We assumed it be a combination STEAM and Vacuum machine. Where is the Steam? I will await your reply. Thank You.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I have a similar Hoover “SteamVac” and the vacuum does not create steam as you stated, but you do have to use the hottest water with cleaning solution and the Hoover will clean your carpet by spraying down the solution, the scrubbing brushes will loosen the dirt and the vacuum will pickup the excess water until the holding tank is full and then you have to empty it, and then start again. The word “Steam Vac” is something that the Hoover factory labeled but so far I have not seen anything that actual produces “Steam” while cleaning. Feel free to contact the Hoover factory with your complaint @ the information listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Most of the older Hoover Comm’l type vacuums have a shake our bag with a slide on clamp – so you would keep the clamp & then either the bag usually is wired on @ the bottom of the fill area & would need to re-attach if the outer bag is still in good shape. If not then I suggest that you replace the bag and clamp if needed. include the brand name & model # with your request to either company. Questions? Contact the Hoover website or Hoover cust service @ the info listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I recommend to use the same detergent that came with the machine. Some detergents can cause problems such as damaging seals and causing build up. Hope this helps, post back.

Here is a picture, maybe you can trace where the tubes go, I am sure you will have to take the top cover off.
