You probably have a blown amp ic or the output transistors. But disconnect the speakers and turn it on could be a bad speaker if it turns on.

SOURCE: I have a sony LBT - LX 10AV and a Sony LBT ZX 10D,

Hello, if you have the manuals, go to page 54 or at this site http://www.docs.sony.com/release/LBTLX9AV.PDF if not try resetting them, for the 10av. It says to unplug it, plug it back in(I'd wait like 10 secs), then press clock set-enter-on/off at the same time. Keep in mind when you reset you will lose all saved information.
Ok, This is all I found so far. I would try the reset instructions on both units. I can't find the manual for the ZX 10D.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance
by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers;
and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on
all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as
designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their
lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than
good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it
'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is
internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

While playing my unit we had a brief power outage. When the power supply returned the " PROTECT PUSH POWER " message comes on. Is there a button that I can push to reset my unit-LBT-X50 .

Hi,
Your sound system may have a circuit breaker.
Check the rear of the sound system for a circuit breaker that has popped out, Then push it back in.
It may be labelled.
  • circuit breaker
  • protect push power
Otherwise unplug your unit from the wall and wait 5min before you plug it back in, then press the power button on the front of your system and your remote control.

I hope this helps

Hi there I have a Sony LBT XG100AV Stereo System, at the moment it keeps flashing Protect push power, we were listening to music at the time when this happened is there any chance you can give me advice on...

I have the same unit, although it's a bit old now. I used to get that problem, and the protection system is to protect the unit from over-heating, and the main cause is its because the unit is getting hot and/or there isn't enough air going through the rear of the unit. I found a fan or better air flow helps.

Sony LBT W5000

According to Page 46 of the LBT-W5000 Operating Instructions:
"The display stars flashing as soon as you plug in the power cord even though you haven't turned on the system (demonstration mode).
Press DISPLAY (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500) or DEMO (STANDBY) (for other models) while the system is off. If the system is in the Power Saving mode, press POWER SAVE / DEMO (STANDBY) (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500). The demonstration appears automatically the first time you plug in the power cord, or if there is a power outage lasting longer than half a day."
I tested this today, as my LBT-W5000 was in Demonstration Mode. It definitely works. The only catch is (at least on the W5000), and it's a minor one, you have to reset your clock afterwards.

Sounds like your protection circuit has been activated, which usually means that you have some blown output transistors. Good luck.

"Protect" and "Push Power"

Doiuble check your wiresa again for no pinches or shorts, even at the back of the unit. Also try unplugging the unit for 12 to 24 hours. If that does not help, it may be the time to buy a new stereo because that means there is a fault in the output device, unless you kinow someone who can trouble shoot and repair solid state electronics.
