Food Grade Silicone spray applied to the pockets where the cubes are frozen will sometimes fix the issue with not harvesting. The motor is not strong enough to push the cubes out of the tray after the unit is a few years old. After sprayin the tray discard the first few loads of ice.

My ice maker has ice in the tray but not dropping in Ben,it is a kfil27cxmso there is a lite that sends a beam across ben ,how do I check to see if the bulb is blown or working, gk

Hello George;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician.

I live in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

All ice makers work in the same way.

Your fill cycle is working fine. You have a thermostat in your ice maker which tells your ice maker control module (Computer) that the ice cubes are frozen and ready for harvest. Then, then control module tells the cube tray heater to turn on for so many seconds, followed by the control module to activate the harvesting motor.

So, your ice maker either has a bad thermostat, heater or motor.

The beam across your freezer section is a safety device. On the right hand side is the transmitter. On the left hand side is the receiver with a plastic flapper. When you close the door the flapper closes and completes the signal to discharge ice. When you open the door the flapper pops out blocking the signal.

Kitchenaid superba the ice maker not filling up and making ice

dear owittione perhaps the tray if its plastic maybe its cracked and the water drains out while filling check to see if there is a clump of ice in the bin and if so replace the ice tray no if is metal maybe the same thing is happening also check for the clump of ice in the bin. Now if you dont hear any water going in the ice tray maybe the magnetic valve in the back of the fridge is bunded out or the hose from the tap to the valves has a leak or the hose from the valve to the ice tray has a leak . Check around for water puddles if formed. Those are the probable causes that can lead to your problem ofcourse if the refrigerator over all is working fine. good luck. Regards Tony.

Ice disipenser on maytag refrigerator not working. i can hear it clicking like its trying to work but will not dispense ice.

Your ice maker for that model has an electronic module part number D7824706Q that is electronic. If you can fill the trays with tap water and the clicking continues it is possible that the module is defective. If the water freezes and does not drop I believe the module will need replaced. If water does fill the trays and the clicking continues then replacement will be needed. Let me know just what you think is happening with the questions I asked and I will do my best to help you get this fixed, Thanks, Sea breeze

Kenmore ice maker not releasing ice - it stays in the bottom and ice maker makes sounds like it's trying to kick it out but doesn't. It's frozen in a big block.

Sounds as if your water valve is letting too much water in and too big of ice cubes won't let the rake strip out the ice. Look and see if the ice in the tray is up to the round arm with the fingers. If it is then the water valve needs to be replaced but you will need to get that ice outta there. Take the ice maker down by removing the 2 screws holding it above the tray. Sometimes there is one under the tray as well. Unplug the ice maker and run hot water over the tray keeping the water away from the electronic part. This will release the ice and then reinstall the ice maker.

Another possible problem is the motor module may be broken. Pull the white cover off the front of the ice maker. This will take a little elbow grease. When you access the module (You will see a white dial about as big as a half dollar) see if right in the center of that dial one of the two prongs holding that dial is broken. If you pull on it a bit and it comes off then you are sure that your module is bad. To replace it...remove the three Phillips head screws holding it on. The shut off arm will also be attached...just pull it out with a good tug. Pull the module straight out and replace the module. When replacing the module, you may need to rotate the arm in the ice maker with the fingers on it to fit in the slot in the center of the module. You should have ice within two hours.

Auto ice maker

reduce water fill, small adjustment screw on side of power head, clockwise for decrease, maximum one full turn. if that fails, remove i/m and check for cracked mold, fill with water and place on level table under paper towel. if ok, replace module.

WONT MAKE ICE. THERE IS NO WATER IN TRAY.

The "motor module's" are notorious for failing. Look at the little white fingers inside the tray area, if they are pointing ANYWHERE but fairly horizontal (or slightly up) you may have a bad module. Take the front plastic cover off and check for broken plastic parts inside, wiggle the large gear to see if you can get it to start turning again, if so (or if the gear is cocked) replace the module. Water doesnt stop after ice tray is filled

there is a micro switch in the ice maker motor module that shuts power off to the ice-maker water valve when the ice maker is full but i rarely see them go bad this is the easy way to deal with it pull the unit out unplug both the valves and turn the water on a sec if its running in the ice maker with the valves are unplugged then replace the valves if its not replace the ice-maker motor module

Ice Maker troubles

THERE IS A HARVEST CONTROL (SENSES THAT THE ICE IS PRESENT AND SWITCHES MODE TO HARVEST)... THAT MAYBE THE PROBLEM BEFORE YOU CAN SAY ITS THE MOTOR MODULE. IF YOU HAVE A BAR THAT IS VISIBLE OVER THE BIN ... TRY LIFTING IT ALL THE WAY UP WHEN YOU HAVE ICE IN THE TRAY... IT SHOULD SWITCH THE MODE TO DUMP THE ICE. I NEED TO KNOW IF ANY OF THIS WORKS OR NOT BEFORE I CAN GO FURTHER. GOOD LUCK .... YOU CAN WRITE ReckingerJ@aol.com make sure to type (Fix-Ya) in the subject bar.

95% of ice maker problems are the motor module. See http://tinyurl.com/ykln8r for what it is and if it matches your fridge. Basically here's what ya need for ice... 17 degrees (F) or below, water fill solenoid working with water flow, t-stat on ice tray working OK and motor module turning.
