I have an access master opener. My wall mounted control stopped working. It is a 3 button, 2 wire control. I ordered a new one, replaced it and still doesn't work. I checked the wiring for a break or...

On the rear of the motor unit the two wires from the wall control should go to terminals 1 and 2. Make sure they do. You should be able to momentarily short across those two terminals and the door should operate. Remove the wire from one of the terminals before you try this. If the door operates then replace the wire and try again. If it doesn't work now the two wires are shorted. Replace the wires.

Check the wiring going to the sensors to make sure it is not broken or disconnected. You have a problem with the sensors themselves or the logic board. Unfortunately the only way to be sure is to replace.

Door will only close when held down

That normally happens when the sensors aren't aligned. Both sensors have led lights on them the yellow/orange one will stay on all the time the green one will go out if it cant see the other sensor. Possibly theres a wire that's broken or the other sensor is really out of alignment. Check every inch of wiring from the sensor to the opener, remove wire nuts if present and check the connections. The wires that are used are small, solid and can break easily. Also see if there's a staple that's too tight, move the wire abit where it's stapled and look for damage.

Check wiring back to unit to make sure it's not shorted or broken. You can also reset the garage door opener by unplugging it for a few minutes and plugging it back in.
