If the files are missing from the external hard drive, was the hard drive connected to the pc when you did the restore?
It may have corrupted some files.
You could try using free data recovery software, try recuva from piriform http://www.piriform.com/recuva
This is very powerfull, and should recover most files

Where's the address file located. You need to have full rights (Read, Write, File Scan, Modify, Delete, etc) to the Address file. Right-click on the file name, select Properties, view the rights you have to the file.

How do i transport the address book from old computer windows xp to new computer vista

The easiest way would be to identify the location and the file your Dymo printer uses to store its address. Copy the File to a USB memory stick, copy the File on the USB stick to your your new computer, and when you start up your Dymo printing utility open the copied file as your default address library.
The problem you may run into can be caused by different versions of the Dymo printing utility. You may be forced (using the Dymo printing utility) to export the address book on the XP computer and then import the address book on the Vista computer. The picture below outlines this procedure using Dymo printing utility v.8

Windows vista and dymo labelwriter 450

Here is how to upgrade the software:
1. disconnect the printer and make sure you log in as an administrator. If you need to, back up your contacts: Address Book > Export;
2. uninstall everything that says DYMO (Start > Control Panel > Uninstall) and re-start the computer (back up whatever should be saved);
3. install the latest Windows updates;
4. install DYMO Label 8.5.0: see the download link below(I suggest right-clicking the downloaded file and running it as administrator);
5. connect the printer directly to the computer only when prompted;
7. only use DYMO-made rolls - black stripes on the back, the logo and article number should be there.

Also, please go to Start > Devices and printers > right-click the printer > Printer properties > Ports > clear Enable bidirectional support > OK.

My hp pavillion entertainment pc get a blan screen when i go to desktop

Keith, do you have the Restoration Disk? (CD)

Your boot files are corrupted. Use the Restoration Disk, and perform a Repair.
(Non-Destructive Installation)

Boot files = The essential basic Windows files needed to start Windows

'Corrupted' = An easy blanket type of term.

Crude comparison;
Think of your harddrive as a Library, and the files on it as Books.

Each file is categorized, and has an Address.
In a Library that would be akin to filing the books by name, and sorting by shelves.

The addresses are lost. (The files are still there, however)

Performing a Repair will restore the addresses to the files.

Do not have the Restoration Disk?

In the USA the disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

Call 1-800-474-6836, 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.
Have your Serial Number written down, and handy to give to the nice representative on the phone.

In the white Service Tag on the bottom of the laptop, this is S/N

For countries other than the US, here is HP Worldwide Support,

http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html

Appreciate it if you would post back with your results.

Malwarebytes quarantines certain file types as if they were a virus when using the default settings. Your missing files are probably in the quarantine area too. Instead of trying to locate them, try restoring your pc to a date before you noticed them missing. Your pc has a feature called "system restore" that will help return your files to where they belong.

Click on start, then go to programs, find accessories and then click on system tools. Look for system restore until system tools and click on it. Choose a restoration date that is before the day the files disappeared and then follow the prompts to start the process. The computer will handle the restoration for you and then restart itself when its finished. It will let you know if the restoration was successful or not after rebooting. You should be able to locate your missing files after the process is complete. Good luck!

My desk top is a compact presario 6400 nx and i need all files and componets that have been deleted back in the system to be able to have it run better

I suggest you use the Restoration Disk.

Start your computer put the disk in your optical drive tray.
When asked click on Non-Destructive Restore. (Repair)

If you click on Destructive Restore, (Full Installation), you will wipe out all personal documents you have saved.

For example:
Files in My Pictures, My Videos, My Music, personal documents you have created, and documents you have downloaded.

Non-Destructive Restore, or Repair, will repair the basic Windows files.

If you do not have the Restoration Disk for YOUR computer, you can order it from HP Support. (HP bought out Compaq)

In the USA there is no charge for the Restoration Disk.
The shipping and handling is Not free, however.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

This is the toll-free number to call in the USA, (24 hours a day, 7 days a week),
1-800-474-6836

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact/phone_assist.html

I am not familiar with support overseas, however here is the HP Support page for Worldwide,

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html

Write down the Product Number, and Serial Number from your computer, to give to the nice person on the phone.
You'll find it in the white Service Tag.

The Service Tag will be located on the back of your computer tower, or up on the side.

Suggest you use the Restoration Disk. (CD)
Turn on the computer, put the Restoration Disk in your optical drive's tray.

When asked click on Non-Destructive Restore. (Repair)

If you click on Destructive Restore, (Full Installation), you will wipe out all personal documents you have saved.

Non-Destructive Restore, or Repair, will repair the basic Windows files.

If you do not have the Restoration Disk for YOUR computer, you can order it from HP Support. (HP bought out Compaq)

(Your is capitalized, because it has to be the Restoration Disk for a Compaq Presario SR1620NX, and for THAT computer.
Otherwise use a fresh genuine copy of Windows)

      8. When Windows has restarted, on the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to Programs, point to DYMO Label and click Uninstall DYMO Label.
      9. Reconnect the LabelWriter to the computer and reinstall both driver and software.
