Linksys Wireless "N" Adapter causes Sony PCVRS720G to freeze up after 10 minutes

Upgraded (sort of) Sony PCV-RS720G (running XP Pro) desktop from Linksys Wireless G to Linksys Wirless N (WMP-300N, v 1). The Wireless N installs okay , connects to Linksys Wirless N Router (WRT350N) and internet okay but freezes up PC after 10 minutes. Replaced Wirelss N desktop PC adapter with a new one, same problem. Unistalled & Reinstalled Linksys software, same problem. Tried second PCI slot, same problem. Replaced PC Power Supply and Fans. Laptop Wireless N adapter working good with same Router. Linksys nor Sony Tech Support any help.

Get your money back for the card, and try one from a different brand.

How do I remove my DVD burner for replacement from my Sony VAIO PCV-RS720G? I get the two little screws out from the side, but then something hangs it up. Can't find what the hang up is. Thanks. Segalhund...

Segalhund, I appreciate your wanting a solution, but please refrain from stating your email addy.

There are three screws.
Facing the back of the computer.

One at the Top in the middle of the case cover.

One down on the Right side, straight across from where the monitor plugs into.

One down on the Left side straight across from where the monitor plugs into.

The cover is shaped like a hood, and slides towards the front of the computer.

I'm looking at the User Manual for the Sony Vaio PCV-RS720 Desktop PC right now.

This is Sony eSupport, and the download page for the Vaio PCVRS720G User Manual,

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=PCV-RS720G&region_id=1

On this page left-click on Manuals, Specs, Warranty. (In blue to the upper right of the page)

On this page under the heading - Manuals -
left-click on - VAIO User Guide - in the list.

This is a PDF file. It may take as much as 30 seconds before you see the first page. Suggest you let it download all the way before looking through it.

Page 87 shows removing the cover.

Help me remove DVD burner for replacement on my Sony PCV-RS720G. Get screws out but something keeps hanging it up and I can't find what it is.

Make sure to remove the power and data cables from the back of the drive.
Sometimes there is a lever or catch of some sort that releases the drive.

Good luck!

This should be a quick fix. How old is the machine you are trying to update? Do you know if the jumpers on the drive are in order? Is it a SATA or ATA drive? Did a CD or Disk come with your drive? Check jumpers on your old drive and make sure the jumpers on the new drive are similar ( master, slave, cs ). Usually leaving on Master is best. Is anything else on this line, like a CD or DVD? I think you'll get it from here.

Video outputs

There are TV/Monitor hybrids out there. You could get a 60'' plasma widescreen and use it as your desktop monitor for example. But as far as watching 'streaming video' from like....HBO from your local cable provider, you will not be able to do it with this computer unless you purchase an add-on card (be sure you have the open PCI slot first).

You would need something like the cards listed in the url below (again, be sure your motherboard is compatable with it first).

Sony VAIO PCV-RS720G drivers

I think if you download the motherboard chipset driver utility from the VAIO download page for this model:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCVRS720G&UpdateType=Everything
It will include the NIC 1394 and video controller driver.
