Mine too was working fine then all of a sudden it can't access SD cards and some USB Flash drives. It does still work with one of my flash drives but not the rest. I didn't do anything to change it. The one that still works comes up under 'All File Systems/Media/data' the ones that don't come up under '/home/user/MMC-SD'.

Try opening a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and type sudo bash.
This should give you access to everything.
If this does not work then I am not too familiar with linux either so I probably cannot help.

In my Asus eee pc 900, my SD reader doesn't recognize my 2gb SD card. I have Ubuntu 10.10. Do I need a special driver or something? Thanks!

No. Most likely, you didn't unmount the card properly, so Linux will be afraid to touch it to avoid data loss.

I have the same problem but does not have a sd card can a flash drive be used in the same way as the sd card

First, A netbook that use SD card doesn't same with the SD card at your hard. Second if you wish to make your SD card bootable, you need to make it a bootable. You may try to google on how to make a bootable USB pendrive. You may use the step to make your flash drive boot in the same way as the SD card in your netbook

Can i expand the HDD memory of my EePc 4g?

If you have the EeePC 4G (which I suspect you have, given specs, then I'm afraid the answer is no. The SSD (which is what is used as a 'hard disk in your netbook) is hard-soldered to the main board. You can, of course, add SD cards or USB Pens to increase your storage space.

In Windows, you can also set your "My Documents" folder to work from a different location, such as the SD card. This may help you too.

Acer Aspire card reader not acknowledging SD card

go to Wal-Mart or K-Mart and such, you can get a SD reader/ writer (such as Targus, about $9 USD, what I use) and put your SD card into it, then plug into USB (USB 2.0 is current standard, but will work with USB 1.1, just slower). PC will ask if you want to play/record from/to the removable drive, select "take no action" then go to the "my computer" icon (or what ever you have named it) double click the drive letter for the flash/SD card (E,F,G etc.). open the file folder that you want to copy from <usually something like "100MEDIA" or such> (I STRONGLY recommend that you "COPY FILE(S)" and NOT "move file(s)" as that if something crashes you still HAVE the orig. files) select to copy to the correct drive letter/ file name(s) and PLEASE remember to "remove hardware safely" or you could KILL the files and/or the drive(s) that you were using. (did that TWICE before I realized what I was doing wrong). good luck!

No permission to read my pendrive, Usb HDD

go to my computer, double click the drive. it should open with a list of folders/files. to open the folder double click it. to open a file, do the same.
optionally, you can redo the drivers by going into my computer, system, hardware, and selecting the device from the list. click the driver tab, uninstall the drivers. restart, and the drivers should reload.
this should solve the problem.

Can a WEbcam be installed

Most 701 models came with a web cam built in.
You can install an external one easily.. just plug it in to the usb port.

Previous poster is wrong... why would you need a Cd drive ?
You could either download the drivers from the webcam maker's website, or simply copy the file from the CD to a SD card with another computer. If you have a home network setup, you could simply copy the files via network file sharing.

If you have the linux version of the EeePC 701, then make sure you buy a compatible webcam that has drivers in linux.
