My bands are broken, to replace, do i just push the ball end of the band into the spring, or do i have take it apart?

You have to take the front cover off to replce the springs.

How to install hood struts


The gas assist struts should be replaced in pairs - one at a time.

  1. Prop up the hood in such a way as to take all the weight off the struts. You can cut a piece of wood to the right length in order to do this. Alternately you can ask a strong person to hold up the hood while you work - but it's not advised.
  2. The struts have ball sockets at each end. They're locked in place by a metal band. Insert a thin narrow tool into the groove under the center of the band and pry the band up until the socket disengages. Do this at each end.
  3. With all the weight off the strut, disengage it from the hinge and discard.
  4. The new struts should come with the metal band in the disengaged position. If not, disengage it, but do not remove it completely.
  5. Push each end onto its respective hinge ball until seated, then snap the locking bands into place.
  6. Repeat for other side.

Before attempting to repair any chain brake, eye protection should always be worn, these machines all have an out board chain brake, known as a knee link brake due to its actuating mechanism, start by makeing sure the brake is off, by pulling the brake handle fully back to the top handle, now remove the bar securing nuts, remove the brake/side cover, the hand guard stays with the saw, so the cover is quite difficult to hold when removing the spring, so take two 8 mm bolts, clamp the hex heads in a vice, spacing them out the same as the fixing holes in the brake, now fit the brake /cover band up onto the up standing bolts, use the two bar nuts to secure the brake to the bolts, now insert special tool part no. 502522202 into the actuating quadrant and turn to activate the brake ( this will remove much of the spring tention ) if you do not have the tool you can remove the hand guard from the saw and use that, or a sturdy pair of long nose pliers, now remove the cross head screws from the spring cover, edge the back of the spring up enough to insert a suitable screw driver into the end, lever the spring up and onto the screw driver shaft ( this will stop it flying out ) remove the c clip securing the actuating quadrant to the brake cover, gently lever out the roll pin in the anchor end of the band, the band will now lift out of the cover, remove the single cross head screw securing the knee link mechanism to the band. Refit the new band into the knee link and re fit the screw, re fit the quadrant onto the post in the cover and re fit the e clip, press the anchor end of the band back into the cover, insert the spring back onto the knee link spigot, compress the spring and push it back into the cover, the best way to compress the spring is to use a good pair of long nose pliers, push the closed jaws into the end of the spring ( this will stop the spring flying out ) now push the pliers in to compress the spring against the knee link, and back into the cover, refit the spring cover screws, you now need to load the brake before it can be put back onto the saw, use the special tool, or the removed hand guard to do this, it will take a fair amount of force to re load the brake, once loaded re fit to the saw.

How do you pull the chain break apart on a poulan chainsaw 2150 and repair it.


The brake is a saftey item on the saw and should only be repaired by a quailified fitter, however if you should decide to do it yourslf that is down to you, the brake is a so called knee link brake, start by removing the brake from the saw, once removed activate the brake by pushing the hand guard forward untill you hear the brake come on, now remove the allen screw in the hand guard pivot ( do not remove the c clip in the side of the hand guard ), tap the pivot collers out from either side and remove the hand guard, remove the cross head screws securing the spring cover, BE AWARE THERE IS A COMPRESSION SPRING UNDER HERE, eye protection should be worn, with the cover off, pry out the spring, remover the small pin securing the knee link mechanism, using a small punch tap out the roll pin from the other side of the cover that secures the anchor end of the band, it should now come away, remove the cross head screw holding the band to the knee link mechanism. You can now replace the band, refit the the knee link to the new band, re fit to the machine, tap the roll pin back into the cover to secure the anchor end of the band, re fit the knee link pin, re fit the spring ( be carefull ) re fit the spring cover, place the hand guard back on the cover, use a suitable tapperd punch to insert through the hand guard and cover to hold it in place, now pull the hand guard fully back to load the brake, remove the punch and re fit the pivot collers and allen screw. Make sure the brake now functions properley.

Unclear as to how you adjust the rubber band strap


  1. Remove the deployant clasp from the watchband. The clasp is attached using spring bars on each end of the clasp. The method of spring bar removal varies but is usually performed by pushing a small pointed tool (one end of a spring bar tool) into a hole at the end of the clasp. While depressing the spring rod, pull the buckle away from the bracelet to detach. Repeat this for both sides of the buckle.
  2. Step 2 Measure the watchband to determine proper sizing. Use the scissors to cut along the inner grooves to remove needed sections (each section of the rubber will contain a new set of holes for the bracelet spring bars). Cut carefully and conservatively, as this step cannot be undone.
  3. Step 3 Reattach the buckle to the band after resizing. Reverse Step 1, pushing the spring bar in while sliding the buckle back into place.

Replacing watch band on pathfinder pas410. can't get pins out to replace band.


Watchmakers use special tool to release spring bars, but it is possible to release them in home conditions. Place your watch on flat surface face down. Using pocket knife insert the blade between band and the watch lug where the spring bar (pin) end is and using lever action push spring bar end inwards. This should release the band from the watch. If all this does not work, then your watch band is attached with friction fitted pins and you will need watchmakers help, as without special pin removing tool it is not possible to remove friction fitted pins.

How to remove links from band


This band is put together with cotter pins. To remove the cotter pins look at the edge of the band. The end of the pin that comes out is split and looks like a screw. The end that is solid is the end you want to push from. Use a small punch to push the pin out. The split end is the bigger end of the cotter pin so it needs to come out and go back in the same way it came out. Make sure you remove an even number of links on each side so the watch sits on the wrist the right way. You also have a micro adjustment on the clasp. To adjust the clasp simply use a punch to press the spring bar in the clasp in until it moves. This is a spring bar so be careful it doesnt jump out if the clasp comes apart.

Band replacement


Skagen watches have a fairly unique band. If you have a leather band you can find a replacement from most after market band suppliers like Speidel. For the mesh steel the only after market I know of is from Bariloche. Bariloche. I am still not aware of any titanium mesh suppliers but you can always contact Skagen for replacement bands. They are very good at keeping replacement parts for their watches for several years.

Once you have the band you will need to use a small screw driver to depress and release the spring bar that secures the band to the watch. Place a screw driver in between the ridge of the spring bar and the lug of the watch case and gently move inwards. Remember that the end of the spring bar is spring loaded so it may fly out if you move the end away from the watch.

How do i change watchband for casio bg169wh


Take the watch with the broken watchband and place it on the table. With a ruler, measure the width of the broken band at the point where it is attached to the watch. Now, measure the total length of the watchband when it is in one piece and fits around your wrist. There will be a crease on the band where it is normally buckled.
  • Step 2 Go to the local store and select a band that you like. You should make sure that the width of the band at the point of attachment to the watch is the same as the old band. Also make sure that the new band will be long enough and not too long to fit your wrist. Purchase the band and return home to change the band.
  • Step 3 Clear a spot to work and make sure that there is a small towel covering the table top so that you can see anything that may drop or pop out during the process of changing the band.
  • Step 4 Use a magnifying glass to look at the point where one side of the band is attached to the watch. You will see a small pin connecting the band to the watch on either side of the band. Carefully use the jeweler's screwdriver to depress the spring loaded pin from the watch to the band and release it from the watch. When the tension on the spring pin is released it may pop out of the band and you will want to take care not to lose it. Repeat this process with the other half of the band.
  • Step 5 Take the new band and slip the spring pins into the small holes on the end of the band where it will attach to the watch. Working with one end at a time, slip one side into the pin hole in the watch body.
  • Step 6 Use the jeweler's screwdriver to depress the other side of the spring pin and guide it into the pin hole in the other side of the watch body. Repeat this process with the other half of the watchband and other spring pin. You now have a new band for your broken one.

    Is it possible to adjust the chain break & how to do it.


    hate to say this,but,there is no way to adjust the tension on the brake band.either the spring is weak or the brake band is broken.either can be changed but it's not easy.spring is under a lot of tension and can fly out when taking it apart or installing,you can get the entire cover as a unit if so desired...hope this helps,let me know
