Grill will only heat up to about 400

Generally, there are 2 things that can cause the problem.

1. The grill thermometer is no longer accurate. To test this, purchase an regular Oven Thermometer for about $6.00, that would normally set on the oven shelf. In this case, it's going to set on the grill grates, when you preheat the grill with the lid/hood closed. Allow it to preheat on High for 15 - 20 minutes. Look at the grill thermometer and then compare it to the oven thermometer. I'll bet, the oven thermometer will be significantly higher, if the grill thermometer is faulty.

2. If you recently turned the gas tank's valve OFF and then turned it back ON later. the grill's gas regulator is partially closed. And the burner flames are not as high as they should be. To solve this problem do the following.

A. Turn the tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.
B. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.
C. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the vale is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burners the same way. Now, do all the flame heights look correct for being on HIGH. If so, you solved the problem.

If the above didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can pick one up from any home center or hardware store that sells grills and accessories for about $30.00. Be sure to take your old one with you for comparison purposes.

I hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

Gas very slow to come after valve opened - grill connected to natural gas. After waiting up to 1 hour gas eventually comes and the grill will light. Wait time becomes increasingly longer with each use

Unhook the regulator, and open valve momentarily to see if gas is present under any pressure.
DON'T BE SMOKING. If gas hisses out, Replace the regulator with a new one.

Regulator uses springs and diaphrams. Either the spring is weak or the rubber diaphram is stiff or (oil contaminated) swollen and sticky. DON'T try to repair it. Not worth the risk!

Either way, the only thing between the gas supply and the grill is the regulator. Have it replaced.

I own a brinkmann 810-3825-S and we are trying to smoke pork ribs. So is the lid supposed to be open or closed? And what causes it to be so smokey?

You will want the lid closed, the longer you can hold the heat/smoke in the better the flavor. What makes it smokey is wet wood chips on your coals, a smoker box works great for that but I think this model has it built in. You can get different wood types of wood chips at places where you can buy grills in the same department. You can usually get hickory, oak, cherry and such. Hope the ribs turn out good! :)

New grill doesn't light when turned on....

I just had this problem on my 2 year old stainless steel "Charbroil" propane grill. After I checked to make sure the battery is not dead or corroded and the wires were not heat damaged or chaffed. I bought a replacement igniter kit for $9 at the big box hardware store. In the middle of pulling the unit out, I tried to start it again and it worked, after I gave the little black igniter box a gentle tap. You'd be surprised that it works on a lot of electronics from cars, appliances to yes...airplanes! Good Luck!

Grill no longer producing good heat

read manual...possibly triggered propane safety bypass. Close tank, Turn OFF all burners, disconnect tank. Open one burner for 1 minute and turn off again. Reconnect tank. NOW OPEN tank slowly, all the way. Turn on first burner and ignite with starter or light through port hole manually. Hopefully works better.

Top knob no longer turns

The valve behind knob has probably gone bad and needs replaced(bad bushing from factory maybe). Check to see if your still under manufacturers 1 year warranty. Or order a new one off manf. website or ebay with model #. Good Luck, hope this helps.

Grill Blew up

Yes...........I just had my grill go up in flames as you discribed. The gas hose fitting is a crimpedconnection that connects the hose to a small male fitting. This is not properly enginered ... there should have been a brass conection there. JT
