Seagate FreeAgent Pro - 500GB No detection need drivers

I had my computer formatted and backed everything up with the Seagate FreeAgent Pro - 500GB. Now my computer does not recognize the new hardware. I must be missing the necessary drivers to this program. Do you know a safe place on the internet in which I can download the drivers? Yes! I lost the CD! Silly me! I had the same problem with the HP printer and after downloading those drivers it works. I think I am missing a lot of drivers on the windows XP program that were there before I sent it in to be formatted! Thanks, Dodie

I have the same problem, I went into my seagate, and when I clicked on my pictures or any of my programs it gave me an error message, now it won't do anything at all, I have stored all kinds of pictures and files in my seagate, and now it doesn't even work, what is the deal, I can't get some of that stuff back.

Hi,

Try doing flea power & the power cycle.

1. Disconnect all the peripherals like keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner & monitor and power supply from the CPU.

And press & hold the power button for 2 min, it will release the flea power from the mother board.

Restart the system & check.

2. Disconnect everything.wait for 5-10 minutes and then connect every thing.

Restart the system.

If it does not resolve the issue then you can try this :

Check this before you try to edit the registry values.

http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/profiles.1.html

Just remove the registry key it happen when this key is corrupted.

HLKM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR

And delete all references to the external hard drive.

And also HLKM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB

and found the keys associated with the USB to IDE value.

After restarting the system, the drive should be detected & configured automatically by the computer.

Disclaimer : I will not be held responsible for anything that happens to your computer as a result of following my guide. Use this guide at your own discretion and risk.

Also if you still need driver:

This is the best way to download the drivers of all your devices which are connected to the system for free.

You can download the Driver Magician from this link :

http://www.toggle.com/lv/group/view/kl34858/Driver_Magician.htm

Download the reg key from this link :

http://public.box.net/paul123

then doule click & select ok.

Run the program and select update drivers, it will list the list of pdated drivers.

Select the drivers and select download drivers.

If it does not download just select the driver you need and at the bottom you would see a link,

Just copy that link and download from your browser or download manager, I use orbit downloader.

Good Luck.

My computer does not see my external hard dive

Go to this webpage (Seagate) http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/ and choose from the SeaTools and FreeAgent Drivers that are appropriate for your OS and particular model. Formatting the harddrive should not have caused this problem of not being connected, but it is possible there was a piece of software that communicated with the computer that was removed via the format.

If the Seagate has been re-formatted, then you will have to go through the re-install of the drive to your MAC, the drive should have come with it's own formatting tools and drivers. These external drives usually respond better with a small program that installs a set of driver tools. If you do not have the original freeagent disc, go to the Seagate support page, look up the model of the drive and download the program and drivers for that model and version.

Open up the control panel with the drive connected, open administrative tools and computer management. Select storage and see if the drive is listed there. It will probably let you format it from there.
