I never had a password for my router, but Today is has a password and I cant use it

I assume you are talking about a wireless router.

If so, then it is possible someone else has accessed your router's ADMIN settings through a wireless connection and has enabled the password feature. This can be done from a wireless computer somewhere inside your home, or even from one located outside on the street or from a nearby neighbours house. Normally this is done by wireless hackers to maintain access to your router and keep on stealing your internet signal bandwidth.

Luckily you can just use the RESET feature on your router to clear off any old settings and return it to factory new condition. Then you can set up your system again using your own secure ADMIN password and wireless encryption. I highly recommend you use the more secure WPA wireless encryption as opposed to the old WEP type which can easily be hacked.

Just look in your router's USER MANUAL for complete instructions on how to RESET the router using the small pinhole button on underside of router, how to set up an ADMIN password, and how to enable WPA wireless encryption on your system. This should secure your system and keep out those pesky wireless hackers.

I hope this was helpful, good luck and take care.

Joe.

Securing router from outside user.

Set wireless security to one of the options available. Also, set the router system ID, and change router login password, (record it somewhere, like on the actual router) change the wireless channel to 11 to avoid conflict with landline wireless handsets.
There are higher security settings, but wireless access password is pretty effective.

When changing the advanced settings on the Belkin router, you should change the default password.

To change the password, go to Administrator Password. Type in a new password. Make sure you remember the password, otherwise, you will need to reset the router back to default settings.

I hope this helps.

Log in using a wired connection to the router (probably 192.168.0.1 but if you right click on your conection and check the details it will be the gateway address) and go into the security settings and select the securilty system you want WEP or WPA. You will need to set up all the wireless devices devices to the same system
