How to reverse door on maytag mde2301ayw - Maytag Dryers

I just checked the instruction manuals and on page 22 I found the door reversal instructions with no mention of alternative hinges needed.

Some cannot be reversed....

Remove the door.
opposite of the door hinges is 2 more screws (for reversing the door) remove them
pop the goalpost shaped front and that exposes the hooks that you remove to raie the top.

Unfortunately you cannot reverse the doors on this model. There have only been two front load washers that I know of that had reversible doors, the maytag neptune and amana front loaders. Your matching dryer for this model, I believe has a reversible door, but you'll have to purchase a kit to do it. IF needed maybe you can switch the dryer and washer locations to make them more accessible?

Ity is not normlly possible to reverse the door on automatic washers, as they are not configured for this.

The doors are reversabe they go from left hand open to right hand open. Just reverse the hinges, put the door fillers ( triangle shape go toward the front. Remove the plug put it in the other sidel. Now take the metal door strke and put it on the other side, Then take the filler from on side and put it on the other side. Takes 10 to 15 minutes to make the change.

No need to purchase another door!

As far as I know there isn't any "kit" needed to switch a door. It's just a matter of taking out a bunch of screws, reversing some door parts, and putting it all back together. Here's a link that shows how to do it for one model which is typical:

About all you need is a phillips-head driver and maybe a small putty knife to pry out the filler plugs from the holes you'll be using.

not on washer as far as i know . just dryers but just look in your book or call the store you got it at

you can not change the way the door opens

yes indeed both the washer and the dryer doors are very easily reversible. How much are you getting the set for?? Im tryin to sell a mint 03 5500 washer for $400 and was wondering if that was a little high or not.
