Easiest fix is to insert a small folded piece of paper into the hole of each knob untill you build the knob up enough for pushing down to turn the switch and it is free

After cleaning the cooktop surface the "clicking"

I just solved the continuous sparking in my gas burner. I removed the control knobs and the rubber below those knobs. Gave the rubber and the area below it a good clean using kitchen and bath cleaning wipes that I bought from Coles. The key is to remove the water and grease from the rubber and the area below it. Good luck!

I have a very old Tappan electric cooktop 13-3087-10 with solid burners. One burner has a round button in the middle that has become rusted "pushed in". What is the purpose of the button?

This is the temperature sensor. This one burner has a knob with different numbers on it because its heat is controled by a thermostat and not just by varying the current, as are the other burnser.

Cook top burner knobs all 4 not able to turn

Hello,

Just to be clear, non of the 4 burner controls/knobs will turn ? You are familiar with this unit are you ?

Typically you must push down and turn to activate them.

Let me know if that is not the solution.

Good Luck :)

Flames too high Jenn-air CCG2423

Definitely cut your loses and get a cooktop with a warranty. That unit sat on the back shelf for a reason.......it didn't work properly.

Also, but a cook top that is compatible with the safety knobs they sell as child guards at places like lowes and home depot.

here is a link to show you how the child proof knobs work

Knob not working and some burners not heating

The switch under that knob is bad.  It's called an infinite switch.  As far as the elements go, first thing to check is for proper voltage (220) to the cooktop.  Let me know what you find.

suspect problem is with the regulator on the gas bottle as it would be unusual for all burners to be faulty at the same time. try substituting a new regulator

Remove ceramic cooktop

grouch, kill the power to the cooktop. You are going to have to remove the mounting brackets from undernieth and push the cooktop up. After it's up from it's installation position remove the side and back screws holding the top to the botom. Remove the burner knobs and it should come apart. Sounds like you have a bad burner switch.
