Question about JVC RX-8020V Receiver

1 Answer

No subwoofer output

Just purchased JVC RX-8020V, & have no output from sub. This sub works with my other system, so I know the sub is not the problem. Everything else seems to be working on the receiver, but I thought maybe I am missing something in the setup.

Thanks in advance,
dgh

Yes, the sub is activated in the setup, & I have the level adjusted to +6. Any more suggestions?
    Thanks,

Have jvc rx-2020v receiver with mono rca out for sub and trying to hook it up with polk audio rm 1000 w sub woofer with +/- terminals for both left ane right channels plus blue terminal(?). How to?

Your Polk Audio subwoofer is a passive sub and your JVC mono output is for connection to a powered sub. If the JVC does not have an amplified output for a passive sub, you'll either need to get an amplified sub, a different receiver, or buy a dedicated mono subwoofer amplifier.

I have the Subwoofer plugged into the output and have it turned ON but it's still not working!

It only drives a self-powerd sub.

The manual...

Page 17:

Setting the Subwoofer Information

Register whether you have connected a subwoofer or not.

Before you start, remember....

• There is a time limit in doing the following steps. If the setting is canceled before you finish, start from step 1 again.

On the front panel ONLY:

1. Press SETTING repeatedly until "SUBWOOFER" appears on the display.

The display changes to show the current setting.

2. Press CONTROL UP / DOWN to select "YES" or "NO."

• Each time you press the button, the display alternates between "YES" and "NO."

YES: Select this when a subwoofer is connected.

NO: Select this when no subwoofer is used.

Note:

You cannot use SUBWOOFER OUT ON/OFF on the front panel (see page 14) and adjust the subwoofer output level (see below) when "SUBWOOFER" is set to "NO."

Then continue with setting its relative level and other things.

How to add a subwoofer?

Car systems and home systems are different in the fact that the car system expects to receive 12 volts DC for power, and they are usually 8 ohm speakers. I would not recommend doing this unless you are in the mood for some serious config. Power converter from 110 AC-12v DC and big enough to handle the amperage. If it's not powered, then your going to be running a 4 ohm speaker on an 8 ohm amp output. Again, not recommended.

No sound out of subwoofer

Connection from receiver subwoofer output jack RCA plug male go into your powered subwoofer low level input with other end of cable, then you need to select Subwoofer YES/NO on the JVC receiver speaker setup menu option, select YES if this is a powered subwoofer you are using, should power up the subwoofer, may have to adjust a test tone balance for multi speaker output also, try trimming up on the subwoofer channel to initiate the signal on if the sub has an auto-on feature.

Subwoofer-no output

ther should be a diagram in the left hand corner of display of speakers hooked up, make sure sub is shown right under the left right (and possibly) center speaker icons. under adjust, there is a subwoofer volume level. Under settings there is sub (yes, and no for on and off) there is a sub crossover frequency, and i believe there is also a "LFE" att, which is another subwoofer level.

Sub Woofer

Yes, this output on this receiver is at line level, (.775 MV) Or better known as 0 db level. You will need a powered subwoofer to get the bass to work. If you need an owners manual, you can get one here: http://books.jvcservice.com/download/256239653/17839.pdf Good Luck
