Question about Canon PowerShot SD750 / IXUS 75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I`m no longer able to download images from my IXUS 75 camera to the computer. While trying I`m getting the message "cannot detect camera. Check the connection and try again." I have tried uninstalling the Cannon software and installed an updated version as suggested by Cannon, but without success. Everything worked find up until this summer. My computer is applying Windows Vista.

I have followed your instruction but are unable to find any "drive letter of the camera" to click. I can`t find any link to the camera except when opening the Canon files.

Please advise. (PS I`m using a laptop)

Even without the software, you can still download your image files from the camera to the computer. While the camera is plugged into the computer thru the usb cable, turn on your camera from there. Right click on the Windows Start button and choose Explore. It will open the windows Explorer window. On the left panel, look for the local drive letter associated with the camera; this is under My Computer and you might click the (-) button beside Local drive C to minimize the subfolders. Once you click on the drive letter of the camera, it will show you the contents on the right. Look for the folder containing the images. Then copy them on your local computer drive.

There are images in my Canon Powershot camera. But when I try to transfer them it displays an error message as "There are no images in camera or memory card that match the download conditions"....

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

Can we use canon ixus 75 as a webcam

A raw image is an uncompressed format your camera takes the picture in. Usually it gets transferred from the camera into a .jpg compressed format to your computer (which simplifies everything and is able to be viewed by anything like photo viewers). I would search for a canon IXUs 75 driver for your computer, and turn your camera 'on' plugged in with your USB using a standard computer photoviewer program to see if it has a live mode?

Are you using a memory card or internal memory? If you are using a memory card, get a memory card reader and download the images onto your comp.
