Open the options menu for the lifecam on msn (looks like little stars by your display picture), and click on the lil green MSN guy with a box around his head. That will turn the tracking on or off. Good luck!

There are various settings on the driver that could alliviate your issue, one may be automatic backlighting and other could be the automatic brightness controls. Try turning on the overhead lights to see if the brightness increases. None of these cameras will work in pitch black or near dark conditions. They are not infra-red heat seeking messile heads which by the way I have worked on. They're fun...
