Yeah what a pest - I made the same mistake after waiting till I could get one at $30 last week! So much for the bargain - I doubt the retailer will take it back as I destroyed the cardboard packaging in opening it, of course!

I have a non SDHC 2gb but it has an error. I talked to Pentax support and they said the max supported by the camera was 1GB. The biggest I have yet had to work is 512MB. Has anyone had success with a 1 GB card?

I talked to Pentax support and they told me camera only supports up to 1 GB cards. The biggest I have yet to try successfully is 512 MB. Anyone tried a 1 GB card?

The maximum supported size is most likely 2GB SD Card. Cards with 4GB and more are following a new (incompatible) standard called SDHC (SD High Capacity), SDHC cards work only in devices specifically supporting SDHC. The Optio S5N uses the old SD standard where 2GB are the maximum size.

No. The S5i works with SD cards, which max out at 2GB. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Hi - I have a Pentax S6 with a 1 GM SIM card. I just bought a 4 GB SIM card and am getting a memory card error message. The camera doesn't work with the 4 GB SIM card. What's wrong? What should...

The S6 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card and will not work with your camera. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I have a Pentax Kx and recently bought an 8Gb memory card. However I get a lot of blank images with the error message 'image cannot be displayed' especially if I use the continuous shooting mode....

Dear,

First of all you need to confirm that what kind of memory card your are using. The officially recommended type and brands are here

Toshiba *SD Memory Card - Capacities: 512MB to 2GB *SDHC Memory Card - Capacities: 4GB to 32GB

Panasonic *SD Memory Card - Capacities: 512MB to 2GB *SDHC Memory Card - Capacities: 4GB to 32GB

SanDisk *SD Memory Card - Capacities: 512MB to 2GB *SDHC Memory Card - Capacities: 4GB to 32GB

rather than these might be problematic or not compatible...
Check this first

Best of luck!

What is the largest capacity SD Memory Card that can be used with this camera ?

For that age camera the max is normally 2gb SD card. Be careful you don't buy anything larger like a 4gb SDHC thinking it will let you just use 2gb as it is highly unlikely.

This link goes to a memory supplier which shows 2Gb as the maximum. Not that I'm recommending you get any from them, just an example.

I have a pentax Optio E10 camera and put a 4gb sdhc memory card in but it doesnt respond when I switch it on - does this mean it is not compatible or is there a way of sorting the problem

The manual specifies SD cards up to 1GB. Cards bigger than 2GB are actually SDHC (SD High Capacity) cards and will not work in SD devices. 2GB cards may work; try at your risk.

Inserting either a 4Gb or 8Gb SD card results in a "Memory Card Error".

The S4 accepts SD and MMC cards. SD cards max out at 2Gb. The 4Gb and 8Gb cards are actually SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards, not SD cards, and thus will not work in devices designed for SD cards. Compatibility goes only one way--SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

Pentax Optio MX4 won't read my new SDHC 4gb

Does the camera work with any other card? Was the card formatted in the camera? Some cards from some manufacturers just don't work in some cameras.

Pentax Optio 60

Largest card for the Optio 60 is 2GB. The camera is not able to take 4GB and larger SDHC type cards. If I answered the question to your satisfaction, don't forget to rate it. Thanks

Memory card

Hi and welcome to FixYa.

Your camera will not work with an SDHC card. It must be an SD card.
Don't forget to format the card in the camera after you install it. Elsewise it won't work properly.

Thanks for coming to FixYa, and feel free to rate my solution.
