I have had this TV for about 3 years, and just recently when I turn it on it powers off about 15 seconds to 1 minute later. I unplug it for about a minute and turn it back on, and sometimes it stays on, but more frequently it powers off again. It is hooked up to a surge protector along with the surround sound and Satelite receiver, and only the TV powers off. Any ideas?

Hi,do you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on? If you do it could be an issue with the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.It sounds like the lamp because they normally last 2-4 yrs and when its bad you'll get 3 led indicators and will shut off every few seconds.Make sure you get the Original Philips lamp you can find it on discount-merchant.God bless you!
I have the exact TV and had the exact same problems. It is the light engine with color wheel that needs to be replaced, and they are VERY hard to come by for this model. Our repairman has had our TV for 5 months and still cannot locate a vendor that carries the part. He said according to Toshiba, the part has been discontinued. If you happen to find one, please post. I'll do the same.
i think the convergence amps are weak, or the akb circut has caused the tubes to go bad, google your model number to see if it is in the tube problem. sony made some projos w/ bad tubes in them. tv lasts only three or four years,no cause i had one
Hi i has the same probleme..... My tv has 1 years and 6month... since two days.... the tv turn off itself...I have just take 15minute, unplug tv, and i have open in the right side the little panel...And i have clean inside!!! And i have do the same thing with the big panel in the back of the TV...After i have clean the fan...After this clean my tv is number one... and nothing turn off
The power supply section is having trouble.
Common possibilities are:
- Convergences amps have failed overloading the supply
- High-voltage section (flyback transformer) has failed
(happens sooner or later, about 8 years typical))
- Power surge has popped the power input circuit.
(Fuse, rectifier diodes, turn-on relay etc)
- One of a hundred of electrolytic capacitors has failed
short overloading the supply. They dry
out with age, are cheap to replace, but hard to find which one it is.
- Or any of many other possibilities.
In short, you need a experianced tech to troubleshoot this.
I would suggest that you guys turn the unit off when this happens, unplug the unit for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and see if this helps. If this does not solve your problem, you should call 1-800-448-2244, so a service center in your local area can be found for further assistance.
