Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi there, I am wondering if you can help us. We are a small company with a website, nearly 2 weeks ago now I was working in the admin side of the site when I got thrown off and now we cannot gain access to the admin site or the website itself. When we type in the web addresses we keep getting re-directed to other pages which will not open as Internet explorer say they are unsafe. Also after I got thrown off I got a trojan on my laptop which has had to be removed. No-one can gain access to the website to fix it. Can you help if I send you the web addresses? Or would you know anyone who can please. Kate

    Hi there,

It is being hosted on an FTP server Im told. I know that this sounds silly but we have only just found this out as the company who built and sold us the site have since folded and did not give us any information as to who hosted us etc despite us asking for all the information many many times. Anyhow, I have got the FTP login details from the company who hold the files and dealt with the administration but I cannot login to the hosting site as it keeps telling me that my details are incorrect....I have emailed them but have not received a reply as yet as to how I can gain access. Also we have a seperate admin side to the site but cannot gain acces to that either.

I need more info from your side, hope you'll not mind if i ask few questions. How is the website running? means using an FTP server or directly loaded the web files onto the site builder. Did/do you design/edit/upload/update the website? Admin panel shouldn't be the problem, there must have been something wrong with the actual database where you uploaded the html/php/wordpress, etc.. files. Or perhaps someone might have hacked it. The only thing you can do it to work from the ftp server or from the site builder.
I'll assist you further after I get your response.
Awaiting.

Thanks.

Thanks, I would say that it's been hacked from the ftp server and have changed the password after loading some spyware files or malicious contents. You will not be able to do anything from the Admin Panel, it's only to change/modify/delete the contents of the running website, but you'll not be able to delete or edit any codes or files which means you can't edit the website.

The only solution is to access the ftp server and make the changes immediately. In you situation, you have to contact the web developer (hosting company) and ask them to fix it immediately. Push them or if possible call them. I wish the company still keeps the backup of your website basic database.

If I guess right, the hacker/s might have deleted all the contents of the ftp or the files should have been infected by spyware. This may sound alarmed, but as I know, this is very common. Hackers only attempt to destroy.

If possible, alert all the users of the website users not to open the page, if files or database are intact, they might be completely damaged by the spyware if in case they've inserted a replicating spyware. Everytime a user attempts to open, then the spyware will replicate and will become stronger which will lead to easier destruction of the contents.

After you could access it, don't change the password before you do all the important changes, if they've inserted something more to capture the new changes, your new password will be easily be captured and will hack again. Do all the necessary changes and change the password.

I am really very sorry for you, as I have had the same problem I can feel the pain of loss, but for now we can do nothing, only to wait until you get the correct password.

By the way, what is the ftp server?

    Good luck.

Hi I bought my VW golf from a private seller two weeks ago. Only last week I noticed rust on the driver's side door near the wing. I have spoken to a VW garage and have been told that the paintwork can not...

Not true the door is not mechanical it is cosmetic. Take your complaint higher up the chain at VW. I am sure that they will not want to see a two year old car with rust as it reflects very badly on the company image.

It sounds like your LVDS cable along with the ribbon cable to the lcd panel needs to be cleaned and re-seated. I recommend a service company to do the work. It's not expensive.

3rd Oven Element in 7 years

First, high heat is the enemy but not the only one. If you're cooking fat laden items and splashing the fat up onto the element, that is a big problem. You may also want to see if the voltages feeding the unit are within spec. You don't say where you are but if you're in North America, check both sides of the line. If the voltage varies by more than 2 volts side to neutral or is over 120 per side, 240 total, call your electric company. You may have grounding issues. They can test this at no cost.

Also, when installing an new element, with the unit circuit breakers off, use a small amount of abrasive to clean the connector to the element on the appliance side. It may be corroded. You may find it easier to replace it.
