Question about Memorex MMP8565 MP3 Player

Undeleteable files taking up space on my MMP8565

I have a problem on my MMP8565 where I have many strange files on it taking up space. But it seems I cannot delete them through Windows Explorer. I tried going through Command Prompt but it doesn't recognize my MMP8565 as a drive.

When I try to delete one of these files I get the message:

"!"#$.%&" could not be deleted. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.

I would like help on getting rid of these files.
Thank you for your assistance.

I do not know how to delete music from MMP 8565. Followed Memorex instr. to do it through windows XP 'My computer', found device under 'Other" it shows MP3 icon, when clicked it shows internal drive icon, but when drive icon is clicked it only shows 2 'Windows ' files, they have o bytes, and no properties, but they cannot be deleted. no songs are listed. How can I delete songs from this player?

    Thanks Gregory

Ok, try this
Go to Windows Media Player and connect your MP3. Then when you do that wait until it says Digital Audio Player on the left hand side. Click songs and then right clickthe songs and delete them.

Critical error! Windows can't find hard disk space. Hard drive error -- Damaged hard drive clusters detected. Pruvate data at risk!....What should I do ?

Try deleting all files within the following locations: (In Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) click "Tools" and select "Folder Options" then choose "Show hidden files" and take the tick out of "Hide protected system files")

%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp

This is the action of some form of malware, masquerading as Windows Security Center. It roots itself in the current user's temporary data folders and as far as I know, doesn't affect all users.
It is also a hidden process but as far as I know, doesn't execute any particularly malicious code, just a really annoying notification (which you'll notice changes).

My memorex MMP8565 MP3 player will not boot. I have tried reset and charging but it will not come on.

HI. This unit has internal memory(1gb) that can become unstable, thus, causing start up issues. With that said; This will most likely be a dead cell(battery). I would replace the battery with a new one if it is over 1 years old. This lithium cell may be defective. Once you have purchased a new battery, be sure to charge it fully before using the player. It takes three whole hours to set a newly purchased lithium cell. Once that is done, power up the player and update your firmware. Use the steps below to update properly:

1. Download the updated firmware at www.memorexelectronics.com.

2. Unzip the file, then double click setup.exe in the Desktop folder to install the software to your computer.

3. Connect the player to the computer using the supplied USB cable and the installation screen will appear. (If the installation screen does not appear, unplug the USB cable and turn off the unit). Connect to the computer again and press and hold the Power On/Off/Stop button until the installation screen appears.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

5. When finished, click START and locate the newly installed software “Deco” andselect “Firmware Download”.

Now, after the update, you will need to reformat the player. Use the steps below to achieve this:

1. Use the USB cable to connect the player and the computer.

2. Double click on My Computer, then right click "MPT Player", "MMP8565"or "Removable Disk" and left click on"Format".

3a. For "MPT Player" or "MMP8565", at the "Format" window, click OK to confirm and the player will start to format . When
finished, click "OK" to close the Format window.

3b. For "Removable Disk", at the "Format" window, select "FAT 32" from the file system pull-down menu, then click "Start" to format the unit

  • NOTE: Make sure you have selected "FAT 32" at the file system pull down menu; otherwise, after formatting, the player will not work properly. Then, click OK to confirm and the player will start to format. When finished, click "Close" to close the Format window.

  • NOTE; If for some reason you cannot update your firmware, you will need to reformat the player first, then, update the firmware after the reformatting process.

I can t turn on show me in the display boot error shuting down

use the reset button to reset it. also try to hook it up to the computer and check the memory space. Hope you have not deleted a system file while accessing the content on the PC. if reset does not work, go to their site and download a fresh firmware to fix the boot problem. if you are running out of space on the storage, you might consider taking of some files to free up space

The device will show up on the desktop as USB storage, like a removable drive. You can drag and drop files (MP3s) just like a regular hard disk.

Media player wont show files.

You all are not all having the same issue at all. The vast majority of you have loaded songs that are the wrong format into the player, which is why they aren't recognized once you disconnect from the PC. You should convert them to Mp3 format to avoid having this problem in the future.
