Hi,
You can use STK392-150 as replacement of STK392-110
Let me know model and brand of your tv to help you out in details as I do have lots of schematics.
Thanks.

I have its schematics/ service manual.
Let me know your email if you need copy that will help you to check voltage supplies, resistance values etc in convergence section to fix the problem.

My email is patmac92057@yahoo.com I do need that schematic. Thank you.

OK, sent schematics copy, please check your email box
Hope this will help you a lot to fix convergence problem.
    Thanks.

Thank you. I shouldn't have to change any resistor values right?

It depends, if resistor color looks faded or it looks like heated up, check its value and replace it.
It happens usually with big size resistors (1 or2W) nearby STKL ICs
    Thanks.

    I replace a 1.8 1 watt with a 1.5 1 watt. Is that ok?

Did you got schematics copy in email?

These resistors values are critical and should be exact same because it provides feedback/ error signal for further process in circuit.

  • Patrick McAlexander Sep 16, 2010

IIt got better but then rk58 and rk50 burnt. Should I just put stk 392-110 back in? Could one of the picture tubes be causing this?

  • Shahid Electronics
    Shahid Electronics Sep 16, 2010

bad picture tube is not reason of problem in convergence section and I have seen heat is major problem in this section that these STKs produce due to high current in convergence deflection.
Its up to you to put back STK392-110 back but STK392-150 is more better chip with better current rating. Just make sure that big resistors (1W) are all OK in that circuit board.
You have schematics and its easy to get correct value of these resistors.

Red Convergence

Good day, enamual;

The Part number for the convergence IC's: STK 392-150, the originals are STK 392-110/120's, Hit recommends the 150's.

The part number for resitors; KIT 10. (includes IC's).

I hope this helps.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Jvc convergence

1024x768 Normal 0 Convergence

When A REAR PROJECTION TV has coloured outlines or a 3D image the Convergence Circuits most likely need attention.

Replacing the output amplifiers (located within the Convergence IC's) allows the pictures to line up correctly, and no more color outlines.

This is the most common fault in all makes of rear projection TVs.

Some models of TV require major disassembly and considerable shop/manufacturer's support to repair because of their design that causes other power supply or vertical deflection problems. The poorly designed products require a "bench" repair that can typically cost from $350 t0 $700.

Some TVs are designed for on-site repair and have more reliable circuit design that does not usually cause damage to other parts of the TV when convergence chips fail. The ones that usually allow reliable on-site repair are JVC, Samsung and Hitachi.

It is normal to have some resistors in the circuit burn up or increase in value from the heat (from 2.2 ohms to 5 or 10 ohms). These resistors must be replaced with the right value or the chip may fail again.

This is not a simple repair like changing batteries or a fuse. Reading through the other posts shows many that try and end up with bigger problems.

Your JVC uses STK 392-110 IC's. Misinformed people replace the IC's with other "new and improved" IC's, like STK 392-150. These are devices with different characteristics and require different value resistors in the circuit. Replacing with the STK 392-150 will cause overheating of the resistors and a damaged IC.

If you are in Calgary, I can help. If not, get someone that has experience working on your JVC. My website is below with some costs and explanation.

Good Luck,

Tv troubleshoot for me

chances are that IC804 has failed. You have two ICs that allow you to converge the three colors. IC804 is used for Red Horizontal and Vertical Convergence and also for Green Vertical Convergence. IC805 is used for Blue Horizontal and Vertical Convergence and also for Green Horizontal Convergence. These ICs run very hot and have a very high failure rate which sometimes will cause damage to resistors in their associated circuits. They are both STK-110 and it's best to replace them both at the same time. It's also a good idea to upgrade them to either STK-150 or STK-180. These will run a lot cooler than the STK-110.

Before replacement do inspect for any open or overheated resistors as I stated earlier. Being you only have problems with Red Convergence the plus and minus power supplies should be okay since they are common to both ICs.

Try www.tritronicsinc.com. They have the Hitachi CZ00433 (STK392-150) in stock for $20.11 ($32.43 retail). These are Hitachi OEMs. I've had very good results replacing STK392-110s with these chips. Do check for open or overheated resistors before replacing these chips

Hitachi 65xwx20b convergence

Your message says you "replaced stk392-150", did you replace both of the stk`s or just one of them??? One is for RGB vertical the other is for RGB horizontal, you should always replace both stk`s as a set, Hitachi recommends you use a "replacement kit"
part number X480306", this kit includes both stk`s with a new & supposedly improved set of stk`s as well as all resistors that are required for proper set-up, they strongly recommend you change all of the parts in their kit. The only other thing besides IC`s & resistors that could cause your problem is:
1) bad dcu output (you need a scope to check this)
2) you`ve lost either the +15 volt line or the -15 volt line to the IC`s, "Fxxx" chemical fuse open in power supply.
